The Corporate Tax Manager will lead strategic and tactical tax initiatives, focusing on process improvements for tax filings. This role involves managing all tax-related functions, including return preparation, advising leadership, and overseeing tax audits. Key responsibilities include tax accounting, quarterly close processes, and ensuring compliance with US and Canadian tax laws. The manager will also analyze complex transactions, coordinate audit responses, and conduct technical tax research. This position requires 5+ years of experience in corporate or Big 4 accounting, with expertise in tax provision, compliance, M&A, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and tax technology.
Must Have:
  • Drive strategic and tactical tax strategies.
  • Lead continuous process improvements for tax filings.
  • Manage all tax-related functions, including returns and audits.
  • Proficiency in tax accounting and quarterly close processes.
  • Prepare and submit local, state, and federal tax returns for US and Canada.
  • Analyze complex transactions for appropriate tax treatment.
  • Coordinate information for tax audits and inquiries.
  • Perform technical tax research and stay updated on tax laws.
  • 5+ years in corporate or Big 4 accounting.
  • Experience with tax provision, compliance, M&A, transfer pricing, indirect tax.
  • Familiarity with tax technology (Power BI, Alteryx).
  • Manage preparation of Federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and estimates.
  • Prepare and understand local Transfer Pricing reports for US and Canada.
  • Maintain documentation for tax filings and provisions.

Responsibilities:

  • The Tax Manager plays a vital role in driving strategic and tactical tax strategies while spearheading continuous process improvements to enhance the preparation and submission of our tax filings.
  • You will be part of a team responsible for all tax-related functions, including filing tax returns, advising the leadership team and managing tax audits.
  • Proficient in tax accounting and knowledge of quarterly close processes utilizing technology in the preparation of the quarter and annual tax provision and working with external auditors.
  • Preparing and submitting local, state and federal tax returns and other direct or indirect tax related business filings in US and Canada.
  • Analyzing complex transactions to ensure appropriate tax treatment.
  • Coordinate and deliver information when tax audits, inquiries and notices from tax authorities.
  • Performing technical tax research and stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations in US & Canada and proactively identify potential risks or opportunities for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate and/or Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Experience with:
  • Tax provision and tax compliance
  • Mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing
  • Indirect tax
  • Tax technology – Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
  • Modeling
  • Experience managing the preparation of Federal, state and local tax returns, extensions and estimates.
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to formulate strategies and identify trends through data analysis, and analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Preparation and understanding of local Transfer Pricing reports for US and Canada.
  • Maintain documentation and supporting records related to tax filings, provisions and other tax-related activities.
