Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Cost Engineer for their New York office. The role involves assisting the Change Order/Estimating Manager by scoping field condition change orders, producing engineer's estimates, assembling contract change request packages, issuing RFPs, reviewing contractor's estimates, participating in negotiations, and updating change order logs. The engineer will also develop wage rate build-ups, interpret drawings and specifications, and perform detailed material take-offs.
Must Have
- Assist in scoping Field Condition Change Orders.
- Produce Engineer’s Estimates for Field Condition Change Orders.
- Assemble Contract Change Request packages for scope approval.
- Issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) via client EPMIS system.
- Produce independent estimates for non-field condition Change Orders to check validity of Engineer-of-Record produced Engineer’s Estimates.
- Reviews contractor’s estimates.
- Participate in negotiation of Change Orders.
- Package negotiation documents.
- Respond to auditor questions/comments.
- Update change order logs as process steps take place.
- Attend monthly internal change order update meetings and monthly change order update meetings with Contractor(s).
- Develops wage rate build-ups.
- Reads and interprets drawings and specifications.
- Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and field procurement of bulk materials.
- BA/BS degree or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Good to Have
- 2+ years of experience in engineering or the field of construction management.
- Experienced in engineering contract document review & processing change orders.
- NYCDEP 4-hr Scaffolding Training.
- NYSDEC 4-hr Erosion and Sediment Control Training.
- NYCDEP BEDC EHS Standards Training (4 Hour).
- OSHA 10.

Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Cost Engineer for immediate employment at our New York office. The Cost Engineer reports to the Change Order/ Estimating Manager and responsibilities include assisting and providing the documentation as below:
- Assist in scoping Field Condition Change Orders.
- Produce Engineer’s Estimates for Field Condition Change Orders.
- Assemble Contract Change Request packages for scope approval.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + none or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in engineering or the field of construction management.
- Experienced in engineering contract document review & processing change orders.
- NYCDEP 4-hr Scaffolding Training.
- NYSDEC 4-hr Erosion and Sediment Control Training.
- NYCDEP BEDC EHS Standards Training (4 Hour).
- OSHA 10.
