Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at TVH, you will be a hands-on expert at the intersection of e-commerce, search engineering, GenAI, and scalable ML systems. Your role involves designing, prototyping, and productionizing models to power our search and e-commerce capabilities. You will collaborate with Data Science, Engineering, and IT teams to build reliable, scalable pipelines and deploy advanced ML solutions, directly improving product discovery and the digital customer experience.

Must Have

• Strong experience with core ML techniques (classification, forecasting, clustering, evaluation metrics, feature engineering)
• Confidence in experimentation, model validation, and optimization
• Strong knowledge of vector search, embedding architectures, NLP, transformer models, sequence modeling
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch, or Vespa
• Experience with prompt engineering, synthetic data generation, agentic AI, and the training, fine-tuning, and deployment of transformer-based models
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for ML (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo) to automate model testing, versioning, and deployment
• Strong communication skills to translate between Data Science and IT teams, balancing business needs with technical constraints
• Pragmatic, curious, and focused on real-world impact
• Comfortable with ambiguity and confident in guiding IT on AI/ML topics

If you love building smart retrieval and ranking systems, improving product discovery, deploying models in production, and working closely with both IT and business teams, this role is for you.

What you’ll do

At TVH, e-commerce drives how we help customers find the right part efficiently. That’s why, as a Data Scientist, you will design, prototype, and productionize models that power our search and e-commerce capabilities. You will collaborate with Data Science, Engineering, and IT teams to build reliable, scalable pipelines and bring advanced ML solutions into real-world use. Your work will directly shape part discovery and improve how customers move through our e-commerce platform, strengthening the digital customer experience.

Your profile:

• Machine Learning Foundations: Strong experience with core ML techniques (classification, forecasting, clustering, evaluation metrics, feature engineering), and confidence in experimentation, model validation, and optimization.
• Search Engineering & Information Retrieval: Strong knowledge of vector search, embedding architectures, NLP, transformer models, sequence modeling, and (nice-to-have) multilingual retrieval. Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch, or Vespa is a big plus.
• GenAI & LLM Expertise: Experience with prompt engineering, synthetic data generation, agentic AI, and the training, fine-tuning, and deployment of transformer-based models.
• MLOps & Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for ML (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo) to automate model testing, versioning, and deployment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: A strong communicator who can translate between Data Science and IT teams, balancing business needs with technical constraints.
• Growth & Collaboration Mindset: A ‘make it work’ mentality, comfortable with ambiguity and confident in guiding IT on AI/ML topics.
