We are seeking an ambitious and visionary Director of Economy Design to lead the economy design strategy for Candy Crush Saga, the world’s most beloved match-3 game with over 200 million monthly active players. This role sits at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and leadership—driving innovation, growth, and excellence in our game economy to deliver exceptional player experiences and business results.
As Director of Economy Design, you will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping and evolving the long-term economy design vision for Candy Crush Saga. You will drive forward-thinking systems and economy design strategies that maximize engagement, retention, and monetization while ensuring a balanced, fun, and rewarding experience for players of all types.
Key Responsibilities
Economy Leadership & Vision
Define and own the long-term economy design strategy for Candy Crush Saga, aligning player, product, and business needs.
Translate the economy vision into clear, actionable tactics and as part of the Economy Management team oversee execution to ensure impactful delivery and measurable results.
Champion innovation in systems and economy design, setting the bar for best-in-class practices across King and the broader F2P industry.
Strategic Impact & Decision-Making
Partner with Product, Analytics, and Game Design teams to establish economy health KPIs and ensure strong measurement of in-game systems’ performance.
Identify gaps, opportunities, and trends in player behavior and game progression, using insights to guide strategic decisions that balance player satisfaction with business goals.
Cross-Disciplinary Leadership
Build strong partnerships across game teams and crafts to ensure cohesive execution of the game economy vision.
Influence and align senior stakeholders on complex systems and economy challenges, ensuring clear communication of priorities, rationale, and impact.
Act as the economy design thought leader, presenting key insights and strategies to studio leadership and executive teams.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor a cross functional team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and excellence.
Empower your team with frameworks, tools, and processes to design and implement robust, scalable game economies.
Inspire innovation and experimentation, driving forward-thinking approaches to economy balancing and system design.
Significant experience in economy and systems design roles, with proven success in F2P games at scale.
Experience driving economy design strategy for large-scale, live-operated F2P games.
A strong passion for match-3 games and a deep understanding of the casual gaming market.
Strategic mindset with a track record of solving complex economy and monetization challenges at both macro and micro levels.
Collaborative and persuasive communicator—capable of influencing senior stakeholders and aligning diverse teams around a clear vision.
Deep analytical acumen with experience leveraging data and KPIs to inform design strategies and decisions.
Proficiency in creating economy simulations, progression models, and reward systems for complex, multi-layered games.
