About the job

SummaryBy Outscal

Lead the production of a blockbuster video game. Must have experience launching and operating globally successful games.

Who We Are

Ahoy there!  We're Second Dinner!  Perhaps you've heard of our first game, MARVEL SNAP?  Mobile Game of the Year?  That was just the beginning!  Our next generation of games is "mad hype" and we're excited to make another attempt at a blockbuster hit. (This time, with you!)

The people here are uber-talented, and bring a bunch of diverse perspectives to the craft of makin' games.  If you can bring something new to the table and expand our point of view, that's a huge upside.

OH! And we're fully remote throughout the United States!!  So you can totally apply and nobody will be mad at you.

Our Team (It’s a New Game!)

We’re at the beginning of our journey into a brand new game!  We’ve partnered with one of the biggest and most beloved IP’s on Earth, and together we are doing something totally crazy but somehow super fun.  If you are worried about it being too fun, that’s ok, we are too.

This is not an indie game we are working on.  It’s a mega-blockbuster.  If you want to make a mobile game every single one of your friends, relatives, and co-workers will be talking about, this is THAT game.

Your Role

We have massive dreams and a small team of incredible veteran developers. We’re making a TON of progress. So much progress, in fact, that it can feel like creative chaos! It’s so much fun! We need someone who can join in the fun and help us forge our dream into a game that millions of players will play and love for years!

You will report to the Chief Production Officer and as the Production Director, and you’ll be responsible for turning the vision for Second Dinner’s next huge game into a globally launched and successfully live operated reality. You’ll be accountable for the health & productivity of the development team, and planning & execution of the game.

What You'll Do:

  • Make sure we know what the heck we’re trying to do in the first place!

    • Pull together an achievable vision for the game, in partnership with the discipline leads - and continue to refine this vision as we get smarter through development

    • Prioritize the most important next steps to best explore the vision and bring it to life

    • Communicate the vision to the team and external stakeholders (which includes the IP partner) and make sure everyone not only understands the vision, but is maximally excited about it, too

  • Bring together the best game team ever!

    • Work with discipline leads to holistically manage the entire development team - including personnel management and capacity & budget planning

    • Manage a small team of producers and mentor the next generation of production leaders

  • Guide the team to work together in the best possible way!

    • Chart an iterative plan that makes us much smarter every step of the way as we move towards successful launch and sustainable live operation

    • Establish the best workflow for super fast, super collaborative, and super joyous game development - including teaming up with outsource teams and keeping the core team the best size possible

    • Nurture a development culture that is highly empathetic and collaborate - where people are not afraid to try new things quickly and embrace failing fast to learn fast

    • Lead the production team to solve emerging development problems and remove roadblocks so everyone can be at their best working together

What You'll Need:

  • You have led a team that has worked on mega-popular video games and managed its growth from prototype to successful global launch & sustained live operation

  • You love getting your hands dirty and being in the trenches with a small tight-knit team where everyone is at their best by being more cross-functional

  • You know when to roll up your sleeves to get in there and when to delegate and give others chances to learn & grow

  • You are passionate about learning new things both as an individual and as a team

  • You believe that if people aren’t experiencing joy while making video games, something seriously wrong is happening

  • You love working with ridiculously talented people and bringing the best out of them

Nice to Have, But Not Necessary:

  • You have familiarity with mobile game development and console development and their respective unique challenges

About The Company

Second Dinner is an award-winning independent game development studio that is here to make the most fun games in the world. Not super fun games. Not SUPER DUPER fun games. We mean the MOST fun games. In fact, our game MARVEL SNAP has earned multiple Mobile Game of the Year Awards (Game Awards, DICE), Best Strategy Game (IGN), and the Apple Design Award for Innovation!

Second Dinner is a remote-first studio, so while we are headquartered in Irvine, California, most of our team is fully remote across the United States.
