SummaryBy Outscal

Lead production & QA teams for a growing live game, driving success and fostering a healthy development environment.

Who We Are

Second Dinner is an award-winning independent game development studio that is here to make the most fun games in the world. Not super fun games. Not SUPER DUPER fun games. We mean the MOST fun games. In fact, our game MARVEL SNAP has earned multiple Mobile Game of the Year Awards (Game Awards, DICE), Best Strategy Game (IGN), and the Apple Design Award for Innovation!

Second Dinner is a remote-first studio, so while we are headquartered in Irvine, California, most of our team is fully remote across the United States. We want the most talented teammates wherever they call home. A diverse team with varied perspectives makes us a better company and will help us make better games. If you can bring something new to the table and expand our point of view, that's a huge upside.

Our Production Team

The Production Team at Second Dinner has a goal of shipping two things: an awesome team and an awesome game. We strive to support the team in doing the work they love to do by removing roadblocks, aligning with our north star, and keeping our scope and priorities in check. While we care a lot about making great games, the Production Team cares even more about fostering a healthy team through maintaining a project scope that doesn’t require overtime, pairing work with people that focuses on their zone of genius, and creating best practices for sustainable game development.

Your Role

As the Production Director, you will oversee the production and QA teams, and collaborate with other cross-functional leadership to support a positive and sustainable development environment. You will help the game deepen and grow through feature and content development, evolving its live operation capabilities, and reaching new communities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for successful planning and execution of Snap development

  • Drive the completion of goals and facilitate communication, organization, and accountability across the team

  • Steer the team by digesting competing needs of a complex live game project and help identify the highest priority areas the team should focus on

  • Empower and coach other producers on the team and enable them for success

  • Drive decisions with team leads and producers on workflows, pipelines, priorities, and resources

  • Anticipate production issues and remove roadblocks or bottlenecks that may prevent developers from achieving their goals on time

  • Advocate for the team, the game, and the players

  • Charting a sustainable growth path for the team that can achieve our near term goals and sets us up for long term success

What You’ll Need:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with practical experience leading diverse, high functioning teams

  • Experience operating a live game in a production leadership role (Lead level or above)

  • Proven track record of successfully and sustainably operating a live game

  • Demonstrated passion for coaching and fostering individual growth for team members and next generation of leaders

  • Proven history of building plans to balance scope, resources, and sustainability

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to rally a team around a shared vision

  • Positive and optimistic leadership style and the ability to stay cool under pressure

  • Analytical problem solving skills

  • Love for learning and growing through iteration

Nice to Have, But Not Necessary:

  • Mobile game development experience

  • Experience managing outsourced teams and developers

  • Unity experience
