Job Description

The Director of Sales Compensation will lead the Global Sales Compensation team, owning the design and execution of sales compensation strategy to support company objectives and attract top sales talent. Responsibilities include plan design, implementation, quota methodology, administration, audits, and analytics. This hands-on leader will partner with Sales, Finance, and HR, thriving in a fast-paced, complex environment by taking ownership and initiative to find solutions aligned with company goals.
Must have:
  • Lead Global Sales Compensation team and strategy.
  • Design and execute sales incentive plans.
  • Manage quota methodology and plan administration.
  • Oversee compensation audits and analytics.
  • Partner with cross-functional departments (Sales, Finance, HR, IT).
  • Lead annual planning process, including quotas and territories.
  • Manage commission forecasting and payment processing.
  • Administer FICO’s Sales Commissions system (Xactly).
  • Perform ongoing analytics and reporting.
  • Conduct benchmarking and best practice analysis.
  • Resolve commission inquiries and disputes.
  • 8+ years sales compensation experience, software preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excel expertise is required.
  • Experience with incentive compensation management systems.
  • Experience with SalesForce or other CRM solutions.
Good to have:
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting.
  • Prior Xactly administration experience.

The Opportunity

What You'll Contribute

  • Develop and operate all aspects of FICO’s Sales Compensation program. Closely partner with various departments across FICO including Sales Leaders, Sales Operations, HR, Payroll, Accounting, Finance, Legal and IT to align and support the design, implementation and administration of sales incentive plans.
  • Lead the compensation component of FICO’s annual planning process including the development of quotas, territories and plan structure for each plan participant as well as deployment of the assignments within Xactly and distribution of incentive plan documents. Support the development and execution of SPIF programs.
  • Manage commission forecasting and payment processing. Oversee the annual sales compensation budgeting and accrual process providing updates on a regular basis.
  • Administer FICO’s Sales Commissions system Xactly including continual improvements and automation enhancements.
  • Perform ongoing Analytics and Reporting, evaluating return on investment and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct benchmarking, identify and assess industry best practices, analyze cost and impact analysis of alternative sales compensation design elements.
  • Manage efficient processes to track, research and resolve commission inquiries and disputes and provide solutions to resolve complex commission exceptions as needed.

What We’re Seeking

  • 8+ years relevant experience in sales compensation, preferably within a software organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting preferred or relevant experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills & practices that keep stakeholders informed and included in a way that builds trust.
  • Strong understanding of the complexity of business on a global scale.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing internal compliance programs and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing complex reporting and analysis. Strong attention to detail, analytical, mathematical, statistical, and conceptual skills; Excel expertise is required.
  • Experience with an incentive compensation management system. Prior Xactly administration is a plus!
  • Proven ability to think strategically and to translate strategic directives into tactical initiatives.
  • Experience with SalesForce or other CRM solutions.
  • Demonstrated drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on through analysis.
  • Applies personal ethics, honesty, initiative, and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
