Job Summary
btf (bildundtonfabrik) is looking for a motivated Editor (all gender) for a comedy reportage team from January 5, 2026, to May 31, 2026. This full-time, fixed-term position is based in Cologne. The role involves extensive research on societal, political, and pop cultural topics, developing scenarios, acquiring guests and locations, and managing contracts. The editor will also contribute to shoot organization, material review, and rights clearance, working closely with the production team to create engaging content.
Must Have
- Research societal, political, and pop cultural topics
- Research and select locations and routes (filming locations throughout Germany)
- Create editorial briefings for host, director, and team
- Develop scenarios, act structures, and recurring elements
- Inquire and acquire prominent guests, protagonists, and filming locations
- Contact managements and agencies
- Carefully prepare, manage, and track contracts
- Conduct editorial preliminary discussions with guests
- Collaborate on shoot organization and scheduling in close cooperation with production
- Review material, create raw concepts per episode
- Verify and license image, film, and text rights
Good to Have
- Professional experience in entertainment/documentation/reportage
- Knowledge of the national media landscape and current pop cultural and political references, also in social media
- Research skills and a basic journalistic understanding
- Knowledge and experience in guest/protagonist inquiries
- Sense of humor, timing, and tonality
- Independent, structured, and self-reliant way of working
- Very good communication skills

To support our editorial team for a comedy reportage, we are looking for a motivated Editor (all gender) from January 5, 2026, to May 31, 2026, in a full-time, fixed-term position based in Cologne. Your main tasks include:
- Topic research on social, political, and pop cultural issues
- Research and selection of locations and routes (filming locations throughout Germany)
- Creation of editorial briefings for host, director, and team
- Development of scenarios, act structures, and recurring elements
- Inquiries and acquisition of prominent guests, protagonists, and filming locations
- Contact with managements and agencies
- Careful preparation, administration, and tracking of contracts
- Editorial preliminary discussions with guests
- Collaboration on shoot organization and scheduling in close cooperation with production
- Review of material, creation of raw concepts per episode
- Verification and licensing of image, film, and text rights
Your Profile
