About this role

BlackRock Corporate Communications is seeking a seasoned professional to lead strategic communications for the firm’s global public markets investment platform. This role covers the full spectrum of public markets products across active, ETFs, index, and cash, including our iShares business globally. Our public markets investment engine invests across all asset classes and is core to our strategy of delivering investment and technology expertise to every client we serve. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with experience in a dynamic, collaborative and rapidly evolving environment and a key driver of positioning and marketing our investment platform and BlackRock’s position in the industry.

The Managing Director, Global Public Markets Communications will be a key senior-level member of a global team that shapes, develops and implements integrated communications strategies that drive brand, reputational and commercial value for our product and investment businesses. This leader will sit within the Corporate Communications team’s executive committee and manage a large global team charged with driving growth within the business by commercializing priority products and elevating a narrative of choice, access, and innovation.

About Corporate Communications

An important part of BlackRock’s Corporate Affairs function, the Global Corporate Communications team leads all internal and external communications that advance our purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. The team is responsible for driving global communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that strengthen our brand and reputation, enable business growth and performance, and enhance our culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with senior executives, business leaders, marketing, and members of the Corporate Communications team to develop and drive proactive communications campaigns that advance the objectives of our product and investment businesses.
  • Drive coordination with internal partners to ensure that every campaign is measurable, leveraged across all channels and stakeholders, and priority messages are integrated into the firm’s larger communications and marketing efforts.
  • Serve as strategic and trusted thought-partner and counselor to business leaders and other internal partners related to business and growth opportunities, positioning and issues management.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with top-tier traditional and digital media journalists across business, financial, technology media, as well as with internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and optimize a large global team as they develop and execute communications aligned to the priorities of the firm’s product and investment businesses.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of communications experience in the financial services industry. The ideal candidate must have a track record of representing complex, global organizations and translating business results and momentum for key audiences.
  • Detailed understanding of financial services, specifically the asset management industry and capital markets, including active and index products.
  • Significant experience engaging and partnering with C-level executives and navigating high-stakes media relations and complex reputational issues.
  • Proven ability to manage a team and develop talent.
  • Exceptional writing and media relations capabilities.
  • Track record of developing strategic, impactful communications plans aligned with business priorities to drive commercial outcomes.
  • Ability to develop relationships and navigate a complex global organization that operates in a fast-paced environment.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$270,000.00 - USD$350,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
