Job Summary

The Electrical Designer will be responsible for creating and modifying electrical schematics for mobile robot control units, power modules, sensors, and communication modules. This includes PCB layout design, component selection, and managing electronic components. The role involves collaborating with mechanical and software teams, preparing production documentation, testing prototypes, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The designer will also support serial production and service, focusing on EMC/EMI, signal integrity, and cost optimization.

Job Description, Powers and Responsibilities

  • Creation and modification of electrical schematics for control units, power modules, sensor and communication modules for mobile robots.
  • Selection of suitable connection topology according to functional and safety requirements.
  • PCB layout design.
  • Selection and management of electronic components.
  • Collaboration with mechanical and software team.
  • Preparation of documentation for production and assembly.
  • Testing and commissioning of prototypes.
  • Adherence to standards and safety requirements.
  • Support for serial production and service.
  • Component placement on the board considering mechanical limitations of the robot (dimensions, mounting points, connectors, cable harnesses).
  • Routing with emphasis on EMC/EMI, signal integrity, power and high-current branches.
  • Selection of suitable components (MCU, power converters, sensors, communication circuits, connectors, protective elements) considering availability, price, and reliability.
  • Work with component libraries (schematic symbols, footprints), their creation and maintenance.
  • Close coordination with mechanical designers when placing boards and connectors in the robot.
  • Collaboration with SW developers in defining pinout, power branches, interfaces, and diagnostics.
  • Consideration of serviceability, modularity, and future expansion requirements.
  • Generation of manufacturing data (Gerber, Excellon, pick-and-place, BOM) and manufacturing drawings.
  • Communication with PCB and assembly suppliers (DFM/DFT comments, technological limitations).
  • Optimization of design from the perspective of production and assembly costs.
  • Collaboration in prototype bring-up, measurement of basic parameters (power supply, signal levels, temperatures).
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting of errors in wiring or layout, proposal of modifications.
  • Design of test fixtures, connectors, and test points for serial production.
  • Consideration of valid standards (EMC, safety, electrical resistance) in the design.
