Embedded Engineer III

Lytx is seeking an Embedded Engineer III to design and develop firmware for video telematics devices on embedded Linux and Android platforms. This role involves debugging complex multithreading systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring cohesive integration with overall architecture. You will contribute to groundbreaking solutions for IoT devices, including cameras, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and sensors, to enhance roadway safety. The position requires 6+ years of embedded firmware experience, with expertise in Java, JNI, C++, and Android/Linux development.

Must Have

• Design and develop video telematics devices software.
• Work across multiple platforms based on Android and Linux.
• Debug complex multithreading, IPC, and interrupt-driven systems.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, QA, and platform teams.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous refactoring.
• Support manufacturing, field diagnostics, and firmware update workflows.
• 6+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Android product development with Java and JNI.
• Experience in Camera API integration, Sensor programming, Background service management, Threading, or managing/porting legacy Android projects.
• Exposure to Android SDK build tools.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in C++, embedded Linux based product development.

You’ll Get To:

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelors/Masters in CS/ECE or equivalent with 6+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in android based product development with experience in Java and JNI.
• Experience is one or more of the following areas in an android product:
• Camera API integration
• Sensor programming (Accelerometer, light sensor etc..)
• Background service management
• Threading
• Exposure to managing and porting legacy Java, Android projects to modern version
• Exposure to Android SDK build tools
• Minimum 2 years of experience in C++, embedded Linux based product development
• Strong problem-solving abilities for complex embedded software–hardware issues.
• Flexibility to work across android and Linux platform
