Job Description

As an Engineering Manager at Google, you'll lead and manage a growing team responsible for the infrastructure supporting Java and Kotlin services. This critical infrastructure is used by thousands of Google developers and serves billions of users globally. Responsibilities include setting team priorities, aligning strategies across teams, designing and supporting infrastructure, collaborating on improvements, and triaging system issues. You'll manage a large product budget, oversee international deployments, and contribute to product strategy. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in Java/Kotlin, experience with Spring Boot, and a passion for API design and building infrastructure. A proven track record in technical leadership and team management is essential.

Must have:

8+ years Java/Kotlin development experience
Experience with data structures/algorithms
5+ years technical leadership
2+ years people management
Experience testing, maintaining, launching software

Good to have:

Experience developing infrastructure
Experience with Spring Boot
Passion for API design and building infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in Java or Kotlin languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
8 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in developing infrastructure or making contributions to a code base.
Experience working with Spring Boot.
Passion for API design and for building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
Design, implement, extend, and support the infrastructure for building services using Kotlin and Java.
Collaborate with teammates across the organization to deliver infrastructure improvements.
Triage system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
