Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions. This position reports directly to the Business Unit CFO of Etch. As a key finance business partner, the candidate will anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and actively influence management with critical analysis and sound business advice. This role collaborates with various cross-functional organizations globally and requires the ability to provide solutions to complex problems. Works independently to support a complex and growing business with a diverse set of new and existing products serving high share applications to commodity type applications. Major responsibilities include financial analysis & reporting, total BU financial statement reporting, driving profitability management, and strategic financial planning.

Must Have:
  • Own total margin execution status and Cost per unit (CPU) improvement
  • Partner with executive management team, primary finance partner for COO and operations
  • Drive strategic financial planning, measurement and execution around gross margin initiatives
  • Manage total P&L reporting and executive management communications
  • Execute and track Gross Margin Leadership team swim lane initiatives
  • Analyze strategic inventory decisions and ROI, driving execution to annual targets
  • Own Sequoia and GMLT product/program cost targeting and execution
  • Oversee BU SOP reviews, Inventory DIO, E&Z inventory exposure mitigation, and balance sheet adequacy
  • Forecast and deliver predictable financial results, developing mitigation plans if off track
  • Coordinate all financial submissions
  • Manage Close/GAAP, including balance sheet management
  • Drive process improvement in collaboration with peers in SPG
  • Ability to function as an independently effective and respected partner
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks while delivering high quality results
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to handle data effectively
  • Strong written and executive communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of accounting/financial principles and regulations/legal requirements
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10-15 years of experience in corporate finance, semiconductor, or components manufacturing

Major Responsibilities:

This is a dynamic role that will enable the candidate to own responsibilities in financial analysis & reporting. Will hold total BU financial statement (P&L, BS) reporting responsibilities as well as driving total profitability management and optimization in partnership with Operations. The position requires an individual who is eager to work across functions and levels to provide valued Finance support and consultation.

  • Financial owner of total margin execution status and Cost per unit (CPU) improvement
  • Business partnering with executive management team; primary finance partner for the business unit COO and operations team.
  • Strategic financial planning, measurement and execution around gross margin initiatives
  • Total P&L reporting and executive management communications internal and external to finance organization/partners
  • Gross Margin Leadership team swim lane execution & tracking (I&W, Period, Burden, Variance, MCOS savings)
  • Analysis of strategic inventory decisions and ROI, responsible for driving execution to annual targets/metrics.
  • Owner of Sequoia and GMLT product/program cost targeting and execution
  • Owner for BU SOP reviews, Inventory DIO, E&Z inventory exposure mitigation, BU balance sheet adequacy oversight
  • Forecasting & delivering predictable financial results, or where current model is off, is responsible for developing and driving mitigation/execution to get back on track.
  • Cadence focal and coordinator for all financial submissions
  • Close/GAAP, including balance sheet management
  • Process improvement in collaboration with peers in SPG

Qualifications & Preferences

Education & Experience

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
  • 10-15 years of experience in corporate finance, semiconductor, or components manufacturing preferred
  • 2+ years of people manager experience preferred

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
