We are seeking an experienced Customs & Global Trade professional to join our Corporate Trade team, based in Monterrey, Mexico. The Mexico Corporate Trade Senior Manager will be part of a team responsible for the import/export compliance program for operations throughout the Americas. This role focuses on leading Aptiv business in efficient and compliant operations in line with all import and export regulations, as well as all Aptiv internal policies and procedures, reporting to the America’s Corporate Trade Director.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead business compliance with Customs & Trade related legislation and regulations.
- Responsibility to make decisions and take actions to resolve compliance issues in ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- Compile data analysis and work with business teams as a key point of contact to Aptiv executive leadership team for tariff related data.
- Conduct analysis on import/export data to identify potential duty mitigation opportunities
- Including draft report outs for Aptiv’s Board of Director, executive leadership meetings, and Business Unit leadership and planning sessions
- Provide guidance to Aptiv’s executive leadership team regarding potential mitigation opportunities
- Implement Aptiv’s Corporate Trade Internal Assessment framework.
- Identify and manage duty savings initiatives in South America region.
- Establish, document and ensure periodic update of trade compliance processes and procedures.
- Develop and deliver training, cross-functionally, to relevant Aptiv stakeholders.
- Lead compliance with, and optimisation of, all applicable customs special procedures (IMMEX, AEO / CTPAT, etc.)
- Manage communication and responses to / with South America customs (e.g., Mexico, Honduras, Brazil)
- Manage external communication with government authorities
- Support Aptiv sites on origin determination, qualification under Free Trade Agreements and issuing of Long-Term Supplier declarations.
- Support Aptiv participation in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs (e.g., AEO).
- Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records in accordance with Aptiv and Legal requirements.
- Support export program compliance, including:
- Providing training to key stakeholders;
- Conducting export classification analysis and support;
- Drafting legal filings in support of the Regulatory Legal team; and
- Managing license filings with government agencies
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Sites, etc.) to support corporate planning initiatives.
Education / Experience / Key Requirements
- Top-tier global trade experience, including with a law or consulting firm and/or multinational company
- 10-15 years of relevant professional experience
- Technology and/or automotive industry experience is desirable
- Prior people management experience is desirable
- Experience with SAP GTS preferred
- English fluency required, multiple language skills desirable
