Job Summary
Frontier is seeking an experienced Game Designer to join their team in Cambridge, UK. The role involves designing and improving game features, implementing and tuning content using in-house tools, and conducting product analysis. The designer will collaborate across disciplines, create clear documentation, balance game systems, and drive quality through playtests and feedback, contributing to immersive gaming experiences.
Must Have
- Design complex game features and improve existing designs
- Implement and refine game content using in-house tools
- Conduct in-depth product analysis to ensure games are best-in-class
- Write clear, concise documentation using appropriate software
- Ensure game systems are balanced using analytical methods and telemetry
- Drive quality using playtests, player feedback, and QA reporting
- Deep game knowledge across various genres, especially management and simulation
- Proven experience in game design, content, or level design
- Strong understanding of player psychology and gamer motivations
- Knowledge of various game design theories and methods
- Excellent communication skills, including written and visual presentation
- Good presentation skills for various team members
- Solid skills in game tuning and balancing
- Game design experience within a commercial development team

Given the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to be fully studio based and we are unable to offer remote or hybrid working. We can however provide a comprehensive relocation support package as part of any offer, should you need to relocate.
WHAT'S THE ROLE
We’re looking for an experienced game designer to join our team to design and improve game features and implement and tune a variety of game content. You’ll collaborate with other team members across a range of disciplines to elevate the quality of our games.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Designing complex game features and improve existing designs
- Implementing and refining game content using in-house tools
- Conducting in-depth product analysis to ensure our games are best-in-class
- Writing clear, concise documentation using a range of appropriate software
- Ensuring games systems are balanced using analytical methods and incorporating game telemetry
- Driving quality using playtests, player feedback, QA reporting, and your own insights.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Deep game knowledge across a range of genres, especially management and simulation games
- Proven experience in game design, plus content or level design experience
- Strong understanding of player psychology and gamer motivations
- Knowledge of a variety of game design theories and methods
- Excellent communications skills; ability to present your ideas clearly in written form, using visual aids where appropriate
- Good presentation skills, and experience in presenting your ideas to a range of team members
- Solid skills in game tuning and balancing
- Game design experience working as part of a commercial development team.
