We are a critically acclaimed Swedish game development studio with about 180 experienced and skilled employees. We are most well-known for developing the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and we launched the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

We have grown quite a bit over the last few years and are almost two-hundred “Sharks” now, but we still embrace the same values that we started with. The role

We are seeking a talented and creative VFX Artist to join our newest game team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality visual effects that enhance gameplay, storytelling, and the overall visual experience.

Our team and work environment is highly agile, collaborative, and creative, giving individual team members significant influence along with responsibility. As the first VFX artist on our team, you will have a pivotal role in setting up and optimizing pipelines, establishing workflows, and integrating VFX into our project. Working in a field where art, design, gameplay, and sound come together, your feedback and teamwork skills will be crucial in your daily work. We are at the beginning of something exciting, and we need you to be an excellent problem solver with strong communication skills. What you'll do

  • Create materials and real-time visual effects in Unreal Engine 5
  • Bring life and excitement to the game through your design and implementation of compelling realistic visual effects
  • Coordinate with Art, Sound, Level & Game Design to ensure VFX match the quality bar and vision for the game
  • Design, take ownership and maintain interdisciplinary VFX systems, such as material hit effects and more
  • Help to improve technical pipelines and VFX creation techniques/toolsOptimize VFX to maintain performance without sacrificing quality

Required qualifications

  • Demonstrated skill in real-time visual effects within Unreal Engine 5
  • A keen graphical eye with a sense for details and timing
  • Strong understanding of particle system performance, including handling overdraw, emitter count, and material complexity
  • Demonstrated skill in Houdini, Embergen or similar software
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Versatility, independence and a sense of initiative

Bonus qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in creating complex behaviors using Niagara
  • Proficient with Blueprints or other node-based scripting languages
  • Comfortable writing shaders in GLSL/HLSL or other shader languages
  • Proficient with non node graph based shader authoring
  • Shipped at least 1 AAA or equivalent game
  • Development of cooperative games
  • A background in gaming
  • Passion for video games

We are following the policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day option to work from home. The onboarding is being done fully in the office.
