Elsewhere Entertainment is seeking an Expert Quest Designer to join the development of a new IP. This role involves creating engaging quest experiences by designing and implementing game content, collaborating with narrative and other teams to craft a cohesive game world. The designer will support foundational lore, develop pipelines, express story vision through gameplay, and mentor junior designers, all while fostering an inclusive and respectful environment.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with AAA games
  • Major recognition in your field of work
  • Having made your own game as a side or indie project
  • Experience in adjacent fields such as content design, narrative design, environment art, programming, etc.
  • Experience playing and/or crafting pen and paper, board, or trading card games
Must Have:
  • Support a new intellectual property’s foundational lore
  • Collaborate with the quest and narrative team and other departments in crafting a cohesive experience
  • Collaborate with Quest and Narrative Designers and Engineers to further develop the pipelines and processes
  • Design and implement functional quests and become proficient in using tools
  • Help express the story vision via excellent exploration, dialogue, gameplay, and activities
  • Provide constructive feedback on others’ work
  • Act as a liaison to other departments, conveying the consistent design vision of the project
  • Mentor staff and associate game designers
  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a professional Game Designer
  • Shipped 1 or more titles as a quest designer
  • Experience with technical game design (implementation in tools, game logic, visual scripting, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team
  • Comfortable with self-critique and accepting outside feedback
  • Eagerness to work independently
  • Dedicated to taking ownership of tasks in a highly confidential environment
  • Creativity in problem solving with a mindful approach to putting the team first
  • Experience pitching game design concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills
  • Organizational methods and the capability to meet agreed timelines
  • Habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games
  • Voracious appetite for consuming genre films, television, games, or books
