We are Fool’s Theory, a company from Bielsko-Biała in Poland, creators of the game Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge. We are actively seeking skilled individuals to join our team to work on The Witcher Remake, developed in cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED studio. Sounds interesting? Get in touch with us!

Responsibilities

  • Creation of high-quality foliage assets of various types (trees, both coniferous and deciduous, shrubs, grasses, mosses, lichens, etc.).
  • Conducting in-depth research on different biomes.
  • Collaborating in the creation of foliage assets with Environment Art, Tech Art and Lighting departments to produce consistent and high quality assets.
  • Planning and working with scanned photogrammetry data.
  • Creating high-quality realistic textures/materials using tools, such as Substance Designer, Substance Painter in case scans are unachievable.
  • Preparing meshes with exported textures from scans that can be incorporated into the prop library (especially those from foliage assets).
  • Working closely with the Art Director and Enviro Lead to achieve a consistent look for all the biomes/foliage assets.
  • Creating documentation supporting techniques and processes.
  • Mentoring and guiding fellow artists to foster team growth.
  • Maintaining the production pipeline and meeting deadlines.
  • Working with the production team for scope and scheduling.
  • Creation and maintenance of a foliage library/gym.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience and one shipped AAA title.
  • A keen eye for nature, its beauty, and its colors.
  • Strong skills in foliage creation software- Speedtree.
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop or equivalent.
  • Experience in Substance Designer and Substance Painter.
  • Efficient skills in one of the leading modeling packages (3DS Max, Maya, Blender, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of color theory and lighting technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of physically based rendering practices (PBR).
  • Experience with the Photogrammetry asset creation workflow.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and its Nanite/Lumen technologies.
  • A strong passion and eye for foliage.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice to have

  • A classical art background is an advantage.
