We are looking for a new addition to our team of editors. The ideal candidate will edit and translate game texts as well as check the work of freelance translators.

What you’ll do:

  • Edit translations of game texts in your language pairs
  • Translate texts from English and/or your additional language
  • Evaluate the work of freelance translators and provide feedback
  • Write briefs for translators
  • Create and maintain glossaries

What skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Must have English proficiency of Upper Intermediate or higher. You will be working with English very frequently.
  • It’s great if you know what’s going on in the gaming industry: as a player or otherwise. Then it will be easier for you to grasp the specifics of our work.
  • 2 or more years of experience as a translator or editor preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to integrate into the role quickly and start working on our current projects immediately.
  • A degree in Translation or Linguistics would be a plus, as would a love of foreign languages.

What qualities you’ll need:

  • Attention to detail. When working with texts, it is important to avoid even the smallest errors, which is why you, as an editor, will check the translation and only then send it to the project manager.
  • Accountability. This broad term has an important latent meaning: knowing how to make decisions and take responsibility for them. For example, you are free to translate a word a certain way, but you are also answerable for that decision.
  • Ability to present an argument. Follows from the previous point. If the head editor or a client asks you why you made a particular choice, you must know how to explain your position.
  • Research skills. We work with a wide variety of game genres and subject matter. If one of them is new to you, it is important that you familiarize yourself with it, Google it, ask the right people the right questions, and delve into it deeply to make the translation as accurate as possible.

Conditions:

  • Work on a freelance basis
  • Monthly payments in accordance with completed tasks
  • Payment is discussed with each candidate individually
  • Access to CAT-tools is provided
