Job Summary

This role involves supervising technical, operational, and quality activities in the laboratory, ensuring compliance with SSMA programs, analyzing results, maintaining productivity, and overseeing equipment functionality. The supervisor will also identify non-conformities, support method design, and prepare reports, ensuring quality control and personnel training.

Must Have

  • Comply with SSMA programs and procedures (Inspections, training, meetings, etc.)
  • Participate in and supervise corrective and/or preventive actions
  • Coordinate technical, operational, and quality activities with the Laboratory Head
  • Calculate, review, and analyze results from analysts and/or preparers
  • Maintain or improve laboratory productivity levels
  • Ensure proper functioning of Laboratory equipment and control measurement means
  • Identify non-conformities and propose corrective actions
  • Support in the design and validation of analysis methods
  • Supervise work at each stage of daily production activities and programs
  • Perform analyses and other assigned tasks
  • Report and validate data and information obtained in result evaluation
  • Prepare reports for Test Reports
  • Supervise sampling in the Process Plant and sample preparation process
  • Apply and maintain the quality assurance and control system
  • Prepare weekly and/or monthly production reports, manage reagent and material consumption
  • Supervise the storage of samples and counter-samples, as well as their return
  • Train and evaluate personnel in quality, safety, and environment topics
  • Monitor maintenance and calibration programs for equipment
  • Verify routine quality controls (Check List, records of equipment and environment verifications)
  • Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering, licensed and enabled
  • 2 years of experience in wet chemistry, dry chemistry functions
  • Knowledge of Instrumental Chemical Analysis Techniques (AAS)
  • Solid knowledge in NTP ISO/IEC 17025:2025, ISO 17024, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field
  • Solid knowledge in copper, lead, and zinc volumetry

Job Description

  • Comply with SSMA programs and procedures (Inspections, training, meetings, etc.).
  • Participate in and supervise the determination and implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions generated in inspections, internal and external audits, or incident investigations carried out by SGS or the client (for those without an In Situ Safety Coordinator).
  • Coordinate technical, operational, and quality activities with the Head, Assistant, or person in charge of the Laboratory.
  • Calculate, review, and analyze the results issued by the analysts and/or preparers, if applicable.
  • Maintain or improve the productivity levels of the Laboratory, developing and supporting the corresponding studies to the Laboratory Head.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of Laboratory equipment and maintain control over measurement means.
  • Identify non-conformities and propose corrective actions in situations that produce unsatisfactory services.
  • Support in the design and validation of analysis methods, if applicable.
  • Supervise work at each stage of daily production activities and programs.
  • Perform analyses and other tasks assigned associated with their position.
  • Report and validate data and information obtained in the evaluation of results, if applicable.
  • Prepare reports for the preparation of Test Reports, if applicable.
  • Supervise sampling in the Process Plant, as well as the sample preparation process (according to the mining unit).

  • Verify routine quality controls (Check List, records of equipment and environment verifications) carried out in the areas.
