Job Description
As Head of Backend Development, you will take full ownership of backend teams, structures, and engineering operations. You will lead, mentor, and grow backend engineering teams with a strong people-first approach. You will build a high-performance culture focused on quality, scalability, and delivery. You will oversee technical execution, resource planning, and team capacity management and ensure smooth backend operations, code quality, and architectural consistency. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders to align backend strategy with business goals. Additionally, you will own and improve delivery KPIs such as velocity, stability, incident response, and team satisfaction. You'll also drive backend team hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes and represent backend engineering in leadership meetings and strategic planning.
Must have:
- 15+ years of professional experience in backend software development (preferably in .NET technologies)
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing backend engineering teams at scale
- Deep understanding of backend architectures, including microservices, APIs, and distributed systems
- Excellent people management, coaching, and organizational design capabilities
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Good to have:
- Prior experience in the banking or fintech industry is strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and engineering delivery frameworks
- Ability to balance technical depth with operational and people leadership

Your Role
- As Head of Backend Development, you will:
- Take full ownership of backend teams, structures, and engineering operations
- Lead, mentor, and grow backend engineering teams with a strong people-first approach
- Build a high-performance culture focused on quality, scalability, and delivery
- Oversee technical execution, resource planning, and team capacity management
- Ensure smooth backend operations, code quality, and architectural consistency
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align backend strategy with business goals
- Own and improve delivery KPIs such as velocity, stability, incident response, and team satisfaction
- Drive backend team hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes
- Represent backend engineering in leadership meetings and strategic planning
What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years of professional experience in backend software development (preferably in .NET technologies)
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing backend engineering teams at scale
- High Learning Agility capacity,
- Deep understanding of backend architectures, including microservices, APIs, and distributed systems
- Prior experience in the banking or fintech industry is strongly preferred
- Excellent people management, coaching, and organizational design capabilities
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and engineering delivery frameworks
- Ability to balance technical depth with operational and people leadership
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Proven success in managing backend operations in fast-paced, high-growth environments
