Job Summary

Morningstar, Inc. is seeking an experienced Index Sales Director to join its Index business. This role involves growing a book of assigned clients and prospects in various financial segments, including Asset Manager, Wealth Manager, Market Maker, Hedge Fund, and Bank/Broker Dealer. The director will represent Morningstar’s suite of Index data products, collaborate on data solutions, and be responsible for exceeding revenue targets and building key client relationships. The position requires approximately 25% travel and can be based in Chicago or New York.

Must Have

  • Exceed revenue targets

  • Ability to understand complex investment concepts across active and passive investment products
  • A bachelor’s degree

Job Description

The Group:

A leading global provider of independent investment research is looking for an experienced sales individual to serve in its Index business. The Index business is responsible for the creation and distribution of Index intellectual property. The group administers an extensive range of existing indexes and develops new, innovative offerings for use by asset managers and asset owners in serving their client’s investment needs.

The Role:

The Indexes team seeks a highly motivated Sales Director focused on growing a book of assigned clients and prospects in the Asset Manager, Wealth Manager, Market Maker, Hedge Fund and Bank/Broker Dealer client segments. You'll represent the suite of Index data products and will collaborate on opportunities for Index data solutions. Because this role covers a wide range of opportunities, it will require approximately 25% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Exceed revenue targets.
  • Forecast and proactively uncover short term and long-term strategic sales opportunities with clients and prospects.
  • Proactively collaborate with Index Customer Success and Product teams to determine optimal solutions for sales opportunities.
  • Document activities in CRM system.
  • Master product demonstrations and knowledge of product capabilities and benefits.
  • Establish and build key client relationships individually and in strong collaboration with the Strategic Account Sales team.

What You Will Bring:

  • Candidates should have at least five years of sales and account management experience in the index industry.
  • Proven track record of exceeding prior annual sales targets.
  • Ability to build long-term client relationships with executive and senior leadership within an assigned book of business through a hands-on, collaborative, organized approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations.
  • Ability to understand complex investment concepts across active and passive investment products.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CFA a plus.

Base Salary Range:

$185,000-$220,000

Sales Incentive:

60% of base salary
