Job Description

As an Instrumentation Specialist, you will support testing of Disneyland Resort (DLR) attractions and equipment. You will lead specific testing and instrumentation efforts in support of operational tests, added capacity and reliability, improved maintainability, performance optimization, and overall attraction improvement. Close partnering with DLR’s Operations, Engineering Services, Engineering, and Project Management groups is required. Communication and planning skills are critical. You will use and maintain a variety of test equipment including accelerometers, data loggers, pressure sensors, strain gauges, and multimeters. This is a temporary assignment/project.
Must have:
  • Perform testing, data collection, and troubleshooting on attractions and equipment.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating technical and administrative aspects of tests.
  • Provide prompt, clear, concise communication to management, customers, partners, and team members.
  • Provide recommendations for test operations, safety, and efficiency improvement.
  • Prepare company compliant test scopes, plans, and reports.
  • Aid with maintenance, inventory, and calibration of test equipment.
  • Comply with applicable company, state, and federal legal codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Potential travel to support projects.
  • Work different shifts to accommodate test schedules and support troubleshooting requests.
  • Create/manage project estimates and schedules, give updates to project managers and engineering management.
  • Respond to Attraction downtimes supporting Engineering Services and Operations urgent needs.
  • Partner with other Engineering teams on design efforts.
  • Assisting Engineering and Engineering Services troubleshooting attraction equipment.
  • Working cohesively on reliability improvement efforts.
  • Work weekends/holidays to support projects/attractions when needed.
Good to have:
  • Working knowledge of power quality data loggers such as Dranetz or Fluke
  • Working knowledge of signal analysis using Osciloscopes
  • Experience in testing and instrumentation
  • Use of MatLab or C++
  • Knowledge of accelerometers, strain gauge tests and analysis, and data acquisition systems
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code
  • Familiarity with high voltage and low voltage electrical safety NFPA, NFPA70, 70E Arc Flash
  • Previous theme park experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of lock out tag out safety systems and procedures
  • Knowledge of Electrical Motors, VFDs, Inductive motors Drives, ground faults (AC and DC), Electrical Panels
  • Knowledge of control systems PLCs and programing

As an Instrumentation Specialist you will support testing of Disneyland Resort (DLR) attractions and equipment. You will lead specific testing and instrumentation efforts in support of operational tests, added capacity and reliability, improved maintainability, performance optimization and overall attraction improvement.

You will require close partnering with Cast from DLR’s Operations, Engineering Services (maintenance), Engineering, and Project Management groups. Communication, and planning skills are critical to ensure solutions solve the specific issues and requirements which have been identified by the end users and maintainers. You will use and maintain a variety of test equipment including accelerometers, data loggers, pressure sensors, strain gauges, and multimeters. This is an Temporary assignment/ Project with no guarantee of placement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, data collection, and troubleshooting on attractions and equipment both in the field and in a lab environment.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and administrative aspects of all tests.
  • Provide prompt, clear, concise communication to management, customers, partners, and team members about work status and impact to Resort availability.
  • Provide recommendations, with proposed actions and suggested priorities, for the improvement of test operations, safety, and efficiency.
  • Prepare company compliant test scopes, plans, and reports (e.g., Operational Testing and Performance Testing) as well as the data analysis and writing of test reports.
  • Aid with the maintenance, inventory, and calibration of test equipment hardware and software.
  • Comply with applicable company, state, and federal legal codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Potential travel to support projects
  • Cast Member may be required to work different shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) to accommodate test schedules and support troubleshooting requests.
  • Create/manage project estimates and schedules, give updates to project managers and engineering management.

  • Partner with other Engineering teams on design efforts

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with general testing and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving analytical skills.
  • General Skills:
  • Able to balance multiple projects/assignments concurrently.
  • Able to communicate technical concepts in writing as well as through verbal communication to technical and non-technical peers and management.
  • Use of email, Microsoft Office Software
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of power quality data loggers such as Dranetz or Fluke

Required Education

  • Trade School or B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering equivalent or Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a technical maintenance, testing, design, and/or fabrication environment.

The hiring range for this position in California is $83,800.00 to $115,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
