Job Summary
ILM is seeking a Lead Paint & Roto Artist to manage a team and create stunning visual effects on film projects. This is a fixed-term contract for up to one year. The role involves leading a team, assigning and managing shots, liaising with show teams, and mentoring junior artists, while fulfilling the duties of a Senior Paint and Roto Artist.
Must Have
- Extensive career experience as a Senior Paint and Roto Artist in visual effects
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Expert in using Nuke, Silhouette and Mocha
- Understanding of computer operating systems such as LINUX
- Advanced understanding of Compositing workflow
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and composed demeanor in high-stress situations
- Ability to collaborate effectively under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and people management skills
Job Description
Position Summary
We are looking for artists who embody the creative talent and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.
As a Paint & Roto Lead, you will play a pivotal role by using a wealth of experience and an expert knowledge to manage a team of artists to create stunning visuals on a given show.
This is a fixed-term contract for up to one year. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead a team on a suitable project under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, HoD and the shows Compositing Supervisor
- Be able to fulfill the role of Senior Paint and Roto Artist
- Effectively briefing, assigning, and managing both internal and external shots and artists to meet production goals
- Serving as the primary liaison and communication bridge between the Paint & Roto department and the core show teams (Compositing, Production, etc.).
- Mentoring and acting as a role model for junior members, promoting a culture of technical excellence and professional growth
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive career experience as a Senior Paint and Roto Artist in visual effects, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Expert in using Nuke, Silhouette and Mocha and understanding of computer operating systems such as LINUX
- Advanced understand the Compositing workflow and know the best and most efficient way to complete a task
- A professional role model with exceptional problem-solving skills and an ability to maintain a composed and responsible demeanor, particularly in high-stress situations.
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and perform consistently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
