Intern – R&D Advanced Product Development – San Diego, CA – Summer 2026

This internship supports the Advanced Development Group in creating next-generation devices for coronary and peripheral interventions. The intern will engage in hands-on prototyping and testing with a team of engineers and researchers, collaborating cross-functionally on innovative medical solutions. This role offers experience in applying cutting-edge technologies and methodologies within the highly regulated medical device industry.

Must Have

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related program
• Acquired 2+ years of experience in university coursework and/or previous internships or co-ops
• Hands-on prototyping skills
• CAD skills
• Lab experience
• Creative problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication

• You’ve acquired 2+ years of experience in university coursework and/or previous internships or co-ops.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position in San Diego, CA is $29.00 to $32.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
