Job Description

This internship involves studying and characterizing isolation distances between two electrical potentials within power converters used in Thales electronic boards for harsh environments. The intern will conduct bibliographic research, establish a dielectric strength characterization protocol for various components, perform laboratory tests under varying conditions to observe aging effects, and document findings to optimize future systems.
Must Have:
  • Priority is to complete a 6-month internship.
  • Ambition to perfect knowledge in power electronics, static energy conversion, or dielectric and magnetic materials.
  • Preparing an Engineering degree or equivalent Bac +5.
  • Experience in power electronics.
  • Experience in electrical tests and measurements.
  • Experience with office automation tools.
  • Experience with materials and printed circuits.

Your daily life

Our teams specialize in aeronautical and naval radionavigation, radiocommunication, and satellite communication systems and equipment. At the heart of Corrèze, the site's activity, primarily industrial, covers the entire product life cycle, from the design phase to customer support.

During this internship, you will study and characterize the isolation distances between two electrical potentials within the power converters used in Thales electronic boards, intended for harsh environments. You will begin by conducting thorough bibliographic research, identifying critical parameters, applicable standards, and relevant scientific references. Next, you will establish a dielectric strength characterization protocol for various components such as capacitors, GaN/SiC transistors, and printed circuit boards, according to different types of assemblies. You will perform laboratory tests, exposing representative mock-ups to variable conditions of temperature, pressure, and humidity, which will allow you to observe the effects of aging and identify worst-case scenarios under degraded conditions. Finally, you will write a comprehensive report presenting the results of your work and the lessons learned, to contribute to the optimization of future systems.
