Job Summary

The Internship LiveOps Product & Design role at Goodgame Studios involves working on successful free-to-play MMO titles like Goodgame Empire. This full-time internship, lasting 4-6 months, offers a practical entry into game design and LiveOps product work. Interns will learn to conceive, balance, launch, and optimize LiveOps features, events, and economies, integrating player experience, data, and business goals in a live MMO environment.

Must Have

  • Support design, iteration, and documentation of LiveOps features, events and gameplay systems.
  • Assist in analyzing game data and KPIs.
  • Help optimize existing features and events based on data, player feedback and design goals.
  • Research comparable games and emerging AI-driven design/analytics approaches.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers and product stakeholders.
  • Enrolled student at a German university in a relevant field.
  • Strong interest in free-to-play games, especially MMO systems, events and economies.
  • Confident working with Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools.
  • Very good written and spoken English.

  • Curious, analytical mindset and interest in player motivation and data-driven decision making.
  • Passion for games across different genres.

Job Description

As an Intern in the Empire Family Live Ops Product & Design Team, you’ll work hands-on on long-running, successful free-to-play MMO titles such as Goodgame Empire and Empire: Four Kingdoms. This internship is designed as a practical entry point into game design and LiveOps product work in a real production environment. You’ll learn how LiveOps features, events, and economies are conceived, balanced, launched, and optimized - and how player experience, data, and business goals come together in a live MMO. With a strong mutual fit, there is a clear perspective to continue with us as a Working Student after the internship.

YOUR MISSION

  • Support the design, iteration, and documentation of LiveOps features, events and gameplay systems
  • Assist in analyzing game data and KPIs to understand player behavior and feature performance
  • Help optimize existing features and events based on data, player feedback and design goals
  • Research comparable games and emerging AI-driven design/analytics approaches and contribute ideas for Live Ops and player experience improvements
  • Collaborate with designers, developers and product stakeholders in day-to-day production work

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are an enrolled student at a German university in a relevant field such as game design, economics, mathematics, psychology, computer science, or similar
  • Strong interest in free-to-play games, especially MMO systems, events and economies
  • Confident working with Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools
  • Curious, analytical mindset and interest in player motivation and data-driven decision making
  • Passion for games across different genres
  • Very good written and spoken English
