This internship offers an opportunity for aspiring Product/Test Engineers to join NXP Semiconductors. The role involves characterizing, qualifying, and releasing products for high-volume manufacturing, participating in new product core teams, and defining validation and test strategies. Interns will coordinate with various internal and external functions to launch new products, ensuring they meet schedule, cost, and yield requirements. Responsibilities also include driving product characterization, performing statistical data analysis, and assisting with cost reduction, yield enhancement, and customer quality issues. Ideal candidates are problem-solvers with an interest in microprocessors and a drive for efficiency.
Must have:
  • Responsible for all aspects of characterizing, qualifying and releasing products in high volume manufacturing.
  • Participate in new product/technology core team to define validation and characterization, cost structure and test/manufacturing strategy.
  • Coordinate and interface with diverse areas and functions to launch new products into production.
  • Ensure products released to manufacturing meet schedule, test time, cost and yield requirements.
  • Detailed understanding of production test, reliability and qualification methodologies.
  • Own and drive product characterization – create plans, perform statistical data analysis and deliver reports.
  • Drive cost reduction and yield enhancement projects.
  • Assist with customer issues and quality incidents.
  • Help drive product/test standardization, solutions and methodologies.
Good to have:
  • Working towards BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge in statistical data analysis, CMOS technology, ATE, DFT techniques, programming, and microcontrollers.
  • Ability to organize assignments and schedule time.
  • Analytical & diagnostics skills.
  • Innovative problem solver and lateral thinker.

Product Test Engineers join almost all of NXP’s Business Lines, including: MCU/MPU, Automotive Processors, Advanced Analog, Connectivity & Security, Edge Processing, and Operations.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Responsible for all aspects of characterizing, qualifying and releasing products in high volume manufacturing.
  • Participate in new product/technology core team to define: validation and characterization, cost structure and test/manufacturing strategy for the product/technology.
  • Work entails coordination and interfacing with diverse areas and functions internal and external to launch new products into production.
  • Ensure products released to manufacturing meet schedule, test time, cost and yield requirements.
  • Detailed understanding of production test, reliability and qualification methodologies.
  • Own and drive product characterization – create characterization plans, define matrix lots, perform statistical data analysis and deliver reports on performance to specification.
  • Drive cost reduction and yield enhancement projects interfacing with internal and external factories.
  • Assist with customer issues and quality incidents.
  • Help drive product/test standardization, solutions and methodologies to improve product cycle time and cost.

Job Qualifications:

  • Working towards BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Self-motivated team player that can work with various cross functional team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the following is considered a plus: statistical data analysis, integrated circuits in CMOS technology, automatic test equipment (ATE), design for test (DFT) techniques, programming and application of microcontrollers.
  • Ability to organize assignments and schedule time.
  • Analytical & diagnostics skills.
  • Innovative problem solver and lateral thinker.
