Job Summary
Join Micron's inclusive team as an IT Engineer (Data Services) to drive innovation and enrich life through information. This role involves installing, upgrading, and patching database systems, diagnosing and resolving errors to ensure high availability, and managing database access and backups. You will support incident, request, change, and problem management, provide on-call support, and perform business continuity planning. The position also requires collaborating with customers, performance tuning, proactive monitoring, developing operational procedures, and engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reliability. You will recommend and implement emerging database technologies and participate in worldwide technical collaboration.
Must Have
- Install, upgrade, patch, and implement changes to database systems
- Diagnose and resolve database errors to ensure high availability
- Manage database access, backups, and ensure security compliance
- Support incident, request, change, and problem management tasks
- Provide on-call support, including outside of office hours
- Perform business continuity planning and capacity forecast for database systems
- Collaborate with site customers on new database requirements and problem resolution
- Perform performance tuning of databases for high performance and availability
- Monitor database performance proactively and analyze cases to prevent recurring issues
- Develop processes and operation procedures for database operations
- Engineer solutions and automations to improve productivity and efficiency
- Recommend and implement emerging database technologies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience
- Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools
- Effective oral and written communication
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills

Responsibilities, but not limited to
- Install, upgrade database systems, apply patches and implement changes when required.
- Diagnose and resolve database errors ensuring high availability of database systems.
- Manage databases access, backups and ensure compliance with database and security standards.
- Perform changes to critical databases related to manufacturing and engineering.
- Support incident, request, change, and problem management tasks associated with database operations.
- Ensure SLA for incidents and service requests are met with high quality of work.
- Provide oncall support, including outside of office hours.
- Ensure critical metrics, such as breach case target, MTTR and first level resolution target are met.
- Perform business continuity planning and capacity forecast for database systems
- Collaborate with site customers on new database requirements, problem resolution and data flow requests.
- Performance tuning of databases to ensure high performance and availability.
- Monitor database performance proactively and perform analysis of cases to prevent recurring issues.
- Review and enhance database monitoring when required.
- Develop processes and operation procedures related to database operations.
- Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
- Engineer solutions and automations to improve productivity and efficiency of database operations and reliability and availability of the database systems.
- Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
- Participate in worldwide collaboration for technical sharing and reference architecture alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Candidates with minimum 4 years of relevant working experience may be considered for a senior position.
- Good understanding and hands-on experience in the following areas will be advantageous: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Databases, Linux and Windows operation systems. Programming and scripting languages such as Java, PowerShell and Python.
- Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools
- Effective oral and written communication with strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
