Job Summary
Leeds City Council is seeking a Microsoft Intune and Windows 11 specialist for a 3-6 month fixed-term contract. The role involves replicating existing Microsoft Intune configurations, policies, and applications into an arms-length organisation, while also optimising the current implementation. The specialist will act as a subject matter expert, supporting project delivery, BAU activities, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Must Have
- Migrate and configure Microsoft Intune policies, device compliance settings, and application deployments into a target tenant
- Replicate and optimise existing Intune configurations and application estates
- Review and rationalise policies and configurations to improve consistency and reduce technical debt
- Produce clear technical documentation, including runbooks and SOPs
- Deliver structured knowledge transfer to internal support teams to enable long-term self-sufficiency
- Provide subject matter expertise for Intune-related BAU activities
- Support user and support team adoption through guidance, training materials, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager (device configuration, compliance, Autopilot, Win32 app packaging, update management, endpoint security)
- Enterprise Windows 11 deployment and migration experience
- Expertise in Microsoft 365 & Entra ID (device identity, hybrid join, Conditional Access, M365 Apps deployment, group-based policy)
- Strong documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills

Role Overview
Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Microsoft Intune and Windows 11 specialist to support the End User Compute team during a period of transformation.
The role will focus on replicating an existing Microsoft Intune configuration, policies, and application estate into an arms-length organisation, while also identifying opportunities to streamline, standardise, and optimise the current implementation. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert across Intune and modern endpoint management, supporting both project delivery and BAU activities.
Key Responsibilities

Essential Skills & Experience
Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
- Device configuration profiles including Wi-Fi, VPN, certificates, and custom OMA-URI
- Compliance policies integrated with Conditional Access
- Windows Autopilot deployment profiles and ESP configuration
- Win32 application packaging and deployment
- Update rings and Windows feature update management
- Endpoint security policies including antivirus, firewall, disk encryption, and ASR rules
Windows 11
- Enterprise Windows 11 deployment and migration experience
- Feature update planning and compatibility assessment
- Troubleshooting modern management and cloud-managed endpoint scenarios
Microsoft 365 & Entra ID
- Entra ID (Azure AD) device identity and hybrid join configurations
- Conditional Access policy design and implementation
- Microsoft 365 Apps deployment and update channel management
- Group-based policy targeting and dynamic groups
General
- Strong documentation skills, including technical runbooks and SOPs
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver knowledge transfer and engage stakeholders
