Job Description

As a Junior Lighting Artist, you will contribute to creating visually stunning game environments, focusing on using light, day/night cycles, and weather to establish mood and support gameplay. Responsibilities include creating lighting for locations and key scenes, collaborating with the Art Director and Lead Level Artist, lighting large outdoor scenes, ensuring visual coherence, and participating in the development of lighting technology. You will also work with a proprietary C-Engine editor. The role involves problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork within a dynamic environment.
Must have:
  • Artistic skills, including a good sense of color and composition.
  • Ability to communicate ideas verbally and with sketches/references.
  • Passion for creating games.
  • Proactivity and initiative to solve problems.
  • Good command of English.
  • Great teamwork skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in creating lighting art for video games.
  • Familiarity with architecture.
  • Good sense for searching and analyzing reference materials.
  • Familiarity with engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.

Job Description

As a Junior Lighting Artist, you will help to create amazing environments, which will be discovered and admired by our players. Using light, the day and night cycle and changing weather conditions, you will create the unforgettable atmosphere of locations, creating their mood and supporting gameplay.

Your daily tasks:

  • Creating lighting for locations and building the atmosphere with light in key scenes for the narration and playing in the full day and night cycle.
  • Working with the Art Director and the Lead Level Artist.
  • Lighting large outdoor open scenes, taking into account changes in the time of day and weather.
  • Taking care of the visual coherence of lighting throughout the whole game.
  • Ensuring lighting is optimal and technically correct.
  • Co–operation in the development of technology related to lighting in an open world game.
  • Taking part in creating ideas and plans for locations/levels.
  • Working with a proprietary C-Engine editor.
     

Qualifications

  • Artistic skills, including a good sense of color and composition.
  • Ability to communicate ideas verbally and with the aid of quick sketches/references.
  • Passion for creating games.
  • Proactivity and initiative to solve problems without waiting for detailed instructions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Determination and persistence when facing obstacles.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop your skills.
  • Very good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good command of English.
  • Great teamwork skills.


Nice to have:

  • Experience in creating lighting art for video games.
  • Familiarity with architecture.
  • Good sense for searching and analyzing reference materials from games as well as the real world.
  • Familiarity with engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
