Job Description

Gigamon is seeking a Lab Technician for a 6-month contract to support the hardware engineering team in Santa Clara, CA. This onsite, hands-on role involves managing prototype inventory, assisting with prototype bring-up and system configurations, performing assembly and rework, ordering parts, and maintaining lab readiness. The technician will collaborate with engineers and play a critical role in accelerating product development by ensuring prototypes are functional and organized. The position requires 2-4 years of relevant experience and proficiency with electrical test equipment.

This is an onsite, hands-on role supporting Gigamon’s hardware engineering team with prototype management and lab activities. You’ll work as an individual contributor, collaborating closely with hardware engineers in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The team values precision, problem-solving, and open communication, and you’ll report directly to a hardware engineering manager. By ensuring prototypes are ready, organized, and functional, you’ll play a critical role in accelerating Gigamon’s product development and innovation.

You’ll partner daily with hardware engineers, program managers, and lab operations staff to keep development on schedule. The impact of your work will be felt directly in Gigamon’s ability to deliver high-quality, timely hardware innovations to customers. This is an onsite role with no expected travel.

What you’ll do

What you’ve done

  • 2–4 years of experience in hardware lab, prototype support, or related technician role
  • Familiarity with BIOS/BMC/server configuration and prototype bring-up support
  • Experience with chassis and card assembly, device programming, and rework
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as meters and oscilloscopes
  • Associate degree in electronics, computer engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred

The expected pay rate for this role is $50 - $55/hour.
