Quest Global is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud & Backend Engineer to join their Med Tech and Healthcare team in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The role involves designing and implementing cloud-based pipelines for DICOM imaging data, developing backend services and APIs using Python and Java, and integrating with DICOMWeb services. The engineer will ensure secure data transmission compliant with HIPAA and FDA 21 CFR, and automate infrastructure using tools like AWS CDK and Terraform. This position requires 5-6 years of experience in cloud computing and strong backend development skills.
Must Have
- Design and implement cloud-based pipelines for ingesting, storing, and processing DICOM imaging data.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Java.
- Integrate with DICOMWeb services, including STOW-RS, WADO-RS, and QIDO-RS.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform).
- Ensure secure data transmission using TLS, IAM, and OAuth2, with full audit logging and compliance with HIPAA and FDA 21 CFR.
- 5-6 years of experience in cloud computing (preferably AWS).
- Strong backend development skills in Python and Java.
- Hands-on experience with DICOM and DICOMweb, especially STOW-RS.
- Experience integrating medical devices or edge systems with cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of HIPAA, data privacy, and security best practices.

What You will Do:
Seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud & Backend Engineer with a strong background in cloud-native development, medical imaging standards (DICOM/DICOMWeb), and device-to-cloud integration. Candidate will play a key role in building secure, scalable, and compliant systems that connect medical devices to the cloud, enabling real-time imaging workflows and data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-based pipelines for ingesting, storing, and processing DICOM imaging data from edge devices.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using modern frameworks (e.g., Python, Java).
- Integrate with DICOMWeb services, including STOW-RS, WADO-RS, and QIDO-RS, for image upload, retrieval, and query.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform).
- Ensure secure data transmission using TLS, IAM, and OAuth2, with full audit logging and compliance with HIPAA and FDA 21 CFR.
- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and product teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.
What You Will Bring:
• Project Development experience in Cloud (preferably AWS)
• Strong backend software development expertise in Java & Python
• Good working knowledge in integrating medical devices or edge systems with cloud platforms.
Pay Range: $90k-$120k yearly C2C
Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
Work Experience
- 5–6 years of experience in cloud computing (preferably AWS).
- Strong backend development skills in Python and Java.
- Hands-on experience with DICOM and DICOMweb, especially STOW-RS for image ingestion.

- Familiarity with PACS, or similar imaging systems.
