As a Lead Lighting Artist at Certain Affinity, you’ll be instrumental in guiding the vision for one of our co-development projects. You’ll put your skill, talent, and experience to use supporting the mood, gameplay, and artistic vision on a high-profile AAA game by collaborating with other leaders across disciplines.
Responsibilities
Work with the art director, partner, and design team to bring color and life to a highly immersive world
Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists and drive the visual style/quality bar for lighting across our projects.
Communicate plans and goals for lighting visually to coordinate with stakeholders across the project
Use your knowledge of advancing technology and tools to continually improve lighting pipelines and improve team efficiency
Scope out deliverables, schedule, and manage expectations for the lighting team
Proactively create content that is performant and leaves overhead for other stakeholders
Use your skills with atmospheric effects, practical sources, time of day, color, and cinematography to support the needs of the project
Requirements
4+ years of lighting experience in the game industry
2+ years of leadership experience
Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a lighting artist
Solid proficiency in Unreal, especially with Lumen
Deep understanding of PBR, lighting systems, and rendering technology
Excellent understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows as they relate to game development
Must be able to initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design
Displays a high level of mentorship abilities and is willing to support and train other members on the team
A desire to work in and support a diverse and inclusive environment
