Job Description

The Lead Lighting Artist collaborates with the show-side supervision team to maintain and schedule tasks, ensuring artists deliver high-end photo-realistic CG characters and environments. Key responsibilities include creating and designing lighting for complex scenes, developing the look for assets, animation files, simulations, and effects elements. They also work with supervisors and compositors to achieve the desired look and lead and mentor a team of artists, providing constructive feedback.
Good To Have:
  • Proficiency with 3ds Max and VRay
  • Experience with Maya
  • Experience with Arnold or other software
Must Have:
  • Creates and designs lighting for complex scenes

  • Works with supervisors and compositors to ensure that all elements delivered work as needed to achieve the desired look
  • Leads and mentors a team of artists; offer constructive and support feedback
  • Bachelor's degree in a field of Digital Arts or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in visual effects for feature films
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Able to multitask and complete tasks within production schedules and tight deadlines in an organized manner
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and responds well to direction and guidance from supervisors
  • Applicants based in British Columbia, or those willing to relocate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field of Digital Arts or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in visual effects for feature films
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Proficiency with 3ds Max and VRay preferred, experience with Maya -> VRay, Arnold or other software considered
  • Clear understanding of color space, image-based lighting, shading, and advanced rendering methodologies
  • Able to multitask and complete tasks within production schedules and tight deadlines in an organized manner
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and responds well to direction and guidance from supervisors

This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
