Job Description

As a Lead/Principal Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for crafting stunning, dynamic real-time lighting for a large-scale open-world AAA game built in Unreal Engine 5 (Lumen). You will collaborate with the Art Director, VFX, and Environment Art teams to achieve the best possible quality. You will also work closely with the Tech Art department for scaling and performance optimization. Your responsibilities include creating amazing lighting for an open-world game utilizing Lumen in a dynamic time-of-day scenario, managing the Lighting Art team, tracking lighting production, providing timely feedback to other departments, and keeping documentation updated.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of professional Lighting Artist experience, including 2+ years in a Lead or Principal role.
  • Proven expertise with Unreal Engine 5 and hands-on experience using Lumen.
  • Demonstrated work on open-world projects with advanced lighting systems.
  • Deep understanding of PBR workflows, HDRI, ray tracing fundamentals, and real-time performance optimization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).

Job Details

We are looking for a Lead Principal Lighting Artist to craft stunning, dynamic real‑time lighting for a large‑scale open‑world AAA game built in Unreal Engine 5 (Lumen), driving visual excellence, performance optimization, and seamless collaboration across Art, VFX, and Tech Art disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Creating amazing lighting for an open-world game, utilizing lumen in a dynamic time-of-the-day scenario
  • Work closely with the Art director, VFX, and Environment art to achieve the best possible quality
  • Work closely with Tech Art department to achieve scaling and performance
  • Create and manage the Lighting Art team
  • Keep track of the lighting production, raise concerns in a timely manner
  • Keeping the documentation updated
  • Giving timely feedback to other departments on possible lighting concerns, such as PBR workflow correctness and feasibility of solutions used
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional Lighting Artist experience, including 2+ years in a Lead or Principal role.
  • Proven expertise with Unreal Engine 5 and extensive hands‑on experience using Lumen.
  • Demonstrated work on open‑world projects featuring advanced lighting systems, with an emphasis on online multiplayer environments a significant plus.
  • Deep understanding of PBR workflows, HDRI, ray tracing fundamentals, and real‑time performance optimization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
