Job Summary

Rovio is seeking a friendly and energetic Legal Counsel to join their team in Espoo for a minimum one-year fixed-term period. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support across Rovio's central technology and games business, advising senior leadership, collaborating with internal teams, and navigating game industry regulations. The Legal Counsel will work with various talented teams, contributing to crafting joy for millions of players and growing professionally in a global environment.

Must Have

  • Support senior management and internal teams on legal matters (game development, publishing, data privacy, marketing)
  • Craft and negotiate agreements with partners and vendors
  • Collaborate with SEGA's legal functions for alignment of legal and compliance frameworks
  • Stay curious about regulatory developments in the games industry and share understanding with internal stakeholders
  • Manage legal risks by creating and implementing clear policies and procedures
  • Share knowledge and train internal stakeholders on important legal topics
  • Graduate degree in law
  • Experience in technology or entertainment industry with good understanding of data privacy
  • Proven track record in managing legal risks and creating effective policies
  • Skilled negotiator and excellent at drafting contracts
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking, with proficiency in English

Good to Have

  • Understanding of the mobile games or apps business
  • Understanding and interest in various AI tools and practices
  • Written and oral proficiency in Finnish

Job Description

We're on the lookout for a friendly and energetic Legal Counsel to join our team in Espoo for a minimum of one year fixed-term period. You'll be a vital part of our legal crew, working closely with other team members and our DPO to provide comprehensive legal support across Rovio's central technology and games business. This means you'll be advising senior leadership, collaborating with internal teams, and helping us navigate the world of game industry regulations, all while crafting joy for millions of players. You will have impact and fun at work by:

  • Supporting senior management and internal teams on a variety of legal matters, from game development and publishing to data privacy and marketing.
  • Crafting and negotiating agreements with our amazing partners and vendors.
  • Collaborating with SEGA's legal functions to ensure our legal and compliance frameworks are aligned.
  • Staying curious about regulatory developments in the games industry and sharing your understanding with our internal stakeholders.
  • Helping us manage legal risks by creating and implementing clear policies and procedures.
  • Sharing your knowledge and training internal stakeholders on important legal topics.

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • You have a graduate degree in law.
  • You're experienced in the technology or entertainment industry, with a good understanding of data privacy matters.
  • You have a proven track record in managing legal risks and creating effective policies.
  • You're a skilled negotiator and excellent at drafting contracts.
  • You communicate wonderfully, both in writing and speaking, with excellent proficiency in English.

It would be nice if you also have the following skills:

  • An understanding of the mobile games or apps business.
  • An understanding and interest in various AI tools and practices.
  • Written and oral proficiency in Finnish.
