Job Summary
The Lighting Artist at Scanline VFX is responsible for lighting and rendering high-end photorealistic CG characters and environments for live-action feature films. Key responsibilities include creating and designing lighting for complex scenes, developing looks for assets and effects, collaborating with supervisors and compositors to achieve desired visuals, creating high-quality digital composites and VFX, executing a range of VFX tasks (look development, lighting, rendering), establishing looks, following style direction, and implementing feedback. The role requires proficiency in 3DS Max and Houdini (Maya, VRay, Arnold experience considered), a strong understanding of color space, image-based lighting, shading, and advanced rendering methodologies. The position is a fixed-term contract based in London, with remote work options.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Creates and designs lighting for complex scenes;
- Develops look for assets, animation files, simulations and effects elements
- Works with supervisors and compositors to ensure that all elements deliver work as needed to achieve the desired look
- Creates high-quality digital composites and visual effects for live-action feature films and seamlessly integrates the various layers of a shot
- Executes a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects and rendering
- Establishes looks and/or follow set style direction
- Understands and follows production guidelines; solves design and/or effect challenges for key visual effects shots.
- Receives and implements feedback quickly and effectively
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field of Digital Arts or equivalent experience
- Proven VFX Lighting experience in visual effects for feature films
- Proficiency with 3DS Max and Houdini preferred, experience with Maya - VRay, Arnold or other software considered
- Clear understanding of colour space, image-based lighting, shading, and advanced rendering methodologies
- Able to multitask and complete tasks within production schedules and tight deadlines in an organized manner
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and responds well to direction and guidance from supervisors
