Linux Android Performance Engineer

Qualcomm is seeking a Software Engineer to optimize Qualcomm Chipset performance. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing Linux/Android performance frameworks, drivers, and optimization solutions. Responsibilities include developing system performance features, analyzing and resolving performance issues like boot time, memory, I/O, camera/video fps, and launch latency, and tuning system parameters for optimal user experience and power balance. The engineer will also provide key support to OEMs and collaborate with other technical teams on power, camera, display, and video aspects.

Must Have

• Design, develop, and implement Linux/Android performance framework, driver, and optimization solution based on Qualcomm Chipsets.
• Develop system performance optimization features on Linux/Android platform.
• Analyze, debug and resolve performance issues on Linux/Android devices like boot time, benchmark, memory, I/O, camera/video fps, launch latency etc.
• Configure and tune system parameters for common scenarios to ensure good user experience and achieve the balance of performance and power.
• 3+ years experiences on system performance issue analysis and performance optimization.
• Good expertise on Linux/Android framework or driver development.
• Good programming skills, such as C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Good knowledge on ARM SoC/CPU architecture.

Good to Have

• Familiarity with Android analyze/debug tools like Perfetto, systrace, eBPF.
• Good understanding on Linux CPU DCVS driver and power management.
• Good understanding on Linux scheduler.
• Good understanding on File system and I/O scheduler.
• Good understanding on AI optimization, neon/SIMD programming.
• Good understanding on Android IPC mechanisms, like binder/AIDL/socket.
• Good English oral and written skills.

Job Function

Responsible for Qualcomm Chipset performance optimization. Design, develop, and implement Linux/Android performance framework, driver, and optimization solution based on Qualcomm Chipsets. Includes but not limited to:

• Develop system performance optimization features on Linux/Android platform.
• Analyze, debug and resolve performance issues on Linux/Android devices like boot time, benchmark, memory, I/O, camera/video fps, launch latency etc.
• Configure and tune system parameters for common scenarios to ensure good user experience and achieve the balance of performance and power.
• Provide key support to OEMs for features and issues.
• Work closely with other technical team and provide support from performance perspective. For example, collaborate with multiple teams on power, camera, display, video etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years experiences on system performance issue analysis and performance optimization, has solid knowledge of system performance.
• Good expertise on Linux/Android framework or driver development.
• Good programming skills, such as C/C++, Java, and Python etc.
• Good knowledge on ARM SoC/CPU architecture.
• Ability to schedule, organize and coordinate projects in high efficiency with teamwork.
• Excellent problem solving & analysis skills, communication skills and strong enthusiasm to learn.

Skills /Experience are plus:

• Familiar with Android analyze/debug tools like Perfetto, systrace, eBPF etc.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
