Job Description

As a Manager, Cloud and Technical Infrastructure, Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google, you'll advise Cloud/Technical Infrastructure teams on public policy issues related to the supply chain, including regulatory challenges, tariffs, and political factors. You'll support the development and implementation of supply chain strategies, policy positions, and investment strategies. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
  • Experience with supporting global infrastructure investments or resource issues related to data center or network expansion (i.e., energy).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or other advanced degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience engaging directly with policymakers on trade policy issues.
  • Experience in decision-making.
  • Understanding of the public policy making process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $182,000-$249,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Advise Cloud/Technical Infrastructure teams on public policy issues related to supply chain (including regulatory and policy challenges, tariff and trade issues, and local and national political issues).
  • Support Cloud/Technical Infrastructure teams in developing and operationalizing supply chain strategy in the United States and globally.
  • Support the Cloud/Technical Infrastructure team in the development of policy positions, investment strategies and negotiating positions, and in initiatives to address supply chain challenges.
  • Work with cross-functional colleagues, including across Cloud/Technical Infrastructure Legal, Tax, Product and Go-to-Market, to inform decision making on supply chain.
  • Monitor and research current and relevant emerging public policy issues considering how Google should work with like-minded organizations and industries and work with business-area leadership, Legal, Marketing, Trust and Safety, and Public Relations to develop and launch policy-friendly products.
