About the Role 

Scientific American is searching for a dynamic Marketing Manager to help support our subscription revenue goals. You will be managing and optimizing paid media campaigns across social and search with an aim at driving conversions and creating greater brand awareness. You’ll have a combination of skills from planning and executing marketing campaigns and an ability to coordinate resources from a variety of supporting teams, including technology, product, editorial and more. You have exemplary attention to detail and are very comfortable working with data, AB testing campaigns, and you continuously strive for better results.

This role is located in our New York City office on a hybrid working model. This role reports to the Director of Marketing.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and optimize paid media campaigns across search, social, video, and display 

  • Allocate paid media budget to increase subscriptions and the exposure of our content, newsletters, podcast, and brand 

  • Create email marketing campaigns for one-off sales and automated journeys 

  • Forge paid and organic partnerships with other publishers, podcasts, and newsletters 

  • Brainstorm ideas for copy, creative, and offers with a focus on conversion rate 

  • Partner with editorial to infuse newsroom content and voice into promotions 

  • Conduct quality assurance (QA) of all campaign collateral to ensure accuracy 

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years of marketing experience

  • Proven experience in paid media management, with a strong understanding of search, social, and video advertising

  • Extensive project management experience 

  • Knowledge of advertising platforms 

  • Knowledge of the publishing industry 

  • Experience working with subscription business models

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $85,000 - 110,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
