Job Description

As a Modeler, you will execute poly modeling skills for everything from creating environments, vehicles, props, and characters to be used in production with an emphasis on photo-realism, accuracy, detail, and function. Working with the in-house modeling pipeline, you will need to solve technical issues independently.
Good To Have:
  • Experience working on hard surface and organic modeling.
  • Mari and Substance Painter knowledge.
Must Have:
  • Create high-quality models and UVs for production, implementing improvements based on feedback.
  • Design and implement high-level conceptual to practical modeling solutions.
  • Proactively recommend ongoing pipeline improvements.
  • Identify potential issues, provide solutions, and escalate as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholder departments.
  • Work within the defined pipeline.
  • Ensure continuity and support other asset departments like Texture, Surfacing/Lookdev, Generalist, and Rigging.
  • Minimum three (3) years of VFX experience modeling photorealistic assets for live-action feature films.
  • Expert in Maya, capable of teaching and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous designs to full implementation.
  • Strong understanding of rigging processes and displacement map workflows.
  • Detail-oriented, able to QA own work for highest quality.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, experienced with tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player capable of independent work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of Zbrush and/or Mudbox.

As a Modeler, you will execute poly modeling skills for everything from creating environments, vehicles, props, and characters to be used in production with an emphasis on photo-realism, accuracy, detail, and function. Working with the in-house modeling pipeline, you will need to solve technical issues independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality models and UVs for use in production; implement improvements/changes based on review feedback and Supervisor/Lead direction
  • Design and implement high level conceptual to practical modeling
  • Proactively recommend ongoing pipeline improvements
  • Identify potential issues, provide solutions, and escalate as needed
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholder departments
  • Work within the defined pipeline
  • Ensure continuity and support other asset departments such as Texture, Surfacing/Lookdev, Generalist, and Rigging

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of VFX experience modeling photorealistic assets for live-action feature films
  • Expert in Maya; could teach a class on how to use it and troubleshoot
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to take design from ambiguous to full design implementation
  • Strong understanding of rigging process and displacement map workflow
  • Eye for detail and able to QA own work to ensure the highest quality before handing off assets
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills; experience working under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent knowledge of Zbrush and/or Mudbox
  • Experience working on hard surface and organic modeling is a plus
