Job Description

The Money Movement Business Analyst at eBay will join the Payments Platform Tax & Monetization (PPTM) team to design and build eBay’s next-generation payments platform. This role involves researching global payment trends, defining business requirements, partnering with cross-functional teams, and managing vendor operations and compliance. The analyst will translate insights into actionable recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, drive innovation, and support business growth in global e-commerce payments.
Good To Have:
  • MBA preferred in finance, economics, business, information technology or a related field.
  • Experience in fintech.
Must Have:
  • 3+ years of experience in ecommerce, payments, investment banking, cross border, payment networks or related fields.
  • 3+ years in product strategy, product management, and/or go-to-market roles.
  • BA/BS required in finance, economics, business, information technology or a related field.
  • Strong business judgement and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of global payments ecosystems, gateways, and cross border transactions processes.
  • Proven ability to extract insights from research and analysis to inform business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, being clear, concise and effective in both written and verbal formats.
  • High intellectual curiosity, passion for problem solving and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast paced environments.
  • Ability to foster relationships and influence across teams and partners without direct authority.
  • Innovative mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, evolving work environment.
  • Research and analyze global payment trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape.
  • Create and document business requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Define, manage and implement compliance policies; oversee vendor portal access and coordinate with auditors.

The Payments Platform Tax & Monetization (PPTM) team is responsible for designing and building eBay’s next generation payments platform. Our goal is to create exceptional customer experiences that enable buyers and sellers to connect and transact seamlessly across the world’s largest marketplace. We’re a collaborative team of analytical thinkers and innovators focused on building secure, scalable, and efficient payment systems that power global commerce.

We’re looking for an exceptional, motivated, and detail-oriented professional with strong experience in finance, payments and business analytics to join our team. In this role, you’ll bring curiosity, analytical rigor, identify trends, and define business requirements. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams and external organizations to enhance operational efficiency, drive platform innovation, and support business operations and product improvements that elevate the customer experience.

You will also manage the day-to-day operations of our vendor portals and payment accounts, including compliance and audit readiness. Drawing on your global eCommerce payments experience and analytical acumen, you will translate insights into actionable recommendations and well-defined business solutions that support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze global payment trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Present research findings, payment trends and process improvement opportunities to stakeholders
  • Create and document business requirements, policies and procedures that support the execution of the strategic vision
  • Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of payment platform initiatives
  • Collaborate with business development and finance teams to develop data driven business cases and recommendations
  • Act as a liaison between vendors and internal teams to facilitate smooth daily operations and resolve issues efficiently
  • Define, manage and implement compliance policies; oversee vendor portal access and coordinate with auditors to ensure SOX and other regulatory compliance requirements are met

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred in finance, economics, business, information technology or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in ecommerce, payments, investment banking, cross border, payment networks or related fields. Experience in fintech is a plus
  • 3+ years in product strategy, product management, and/or go-to-market roles
  • Strong business judgement and quantitative analytical skills with the ability to engage deeply in technical discussions as needed
  • Solid understanding of global payments ecosystems, gateways, and cross border transactions processes
  • Proven ability to extract insights from research and analysis to inform business recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, being clear, concise and effective in both written and verbal formats
  • High intellectual curiosity, passion for problem solving and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast paced environments
  • Ability to foster relationships and influence across teams and partners without direct authority
  • Innovative mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
