Network (Infrastructure) Engineer

Plan A Technologies is seeking an experienced Network (Infrastructure) Engineer to manage both digital infrastructure and physical network systems. This hybrid DevOps–Help Desk role involves on-demand support for major infrastructure projects, including deploying and configuring physical network devices, installing physical security systems, and performing low-voltage wiring. The engineer will also design, implement, and maintain automation workflows, Slackbots, and alerting systems using platforms like Rewst.io and BlinkOps to ensure efficient IT operations.

Must Have

• Assist with deployment, configuration, and testing of physical network devices
• Install and maintain physical security systems
• Perform low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, patch panel work, and cable management
• Maintain and support network infrastructure across sites
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues
• Design, implement, and maintain automations for network operations
• Manage and maintain 100+ automations using Rewst.io, BlinkOps
• Provide Tier 2–3 support for Help Desk escalations
• 4+ years of experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or a hybrid DevOps/Help Desk role
• Hands-on experience deploying and configuring switches, routers, wireless access points
• Experience with physical security systems (access control, CCTV) and low-voltage installation work
• Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, VPN
• Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash)

JOB OVERVIEW

This role provides on-demand support for major infrastructure or physical site projects, including the deployment and configuration of physical network devices, installation of physical security systems, and hands-on low-voltage wiring and cable management.

In addition, this engineer designs, implements, and maintains automation workflows, Slackbots, alerting systems, and over 100 operational automations using platforms such as Rewst.io and BlinkOps, ensuring efficient, scalable network and IT operations.

Please note: you must have at least 4+ years of experience in network engineering to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

On-Demand Infrastructure & Physical Site Support

• Assist with deployment, configuration, and testing of physical network devices (switches, routers, wireless equipment).
• Install and maintain physical security systems including access control hardware, CCTV cameras, NVRs, and supporting infrastructure.
• Perform low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, patch panel work, and cable management.
• Support major infrastructure initiatives such as office buildouts, relocations, and network expansions.

Network Engineering & Systems Support

• Maintain and support the network infrastructure across sites, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues collaboratively with IT and Help Desk teams.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration inventory.
• Assist with network monitoring, alert response, and performance optimization.

Automation, DevOps, & Tooling

• Design, implement, and maintain automations for network operations, IT workflows, and infrastructure tasks.
• Manage, improve, and maintain over 100+ automations built using Rewst.io, BlinkOps, and related platforms.
• Develop and support Slackbots, automated alerts, scheduled tasks, and workflow orchestration.
• Continuously iterate on existing automations to increase reliability and reduce manual operations.

Help Desk & Operational Support

• Provide Tier 2–3 support for Help Desk escalations related to networking, connectivity, and system issues.
• Troubleshoot issues with VPN, Wi-Fi, physical access control, or other network-dependent systems.
• Document standard operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and network workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless support.

EXPERIENCE

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or a hybrid DevOps/Help Desk role.
• Hands-on experience deploying and configuring switches, routers, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
• Experience with physical security systems (access control, CCTV) and low-voltage installation work.
• Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as Rewst.io, BlinkOps, or similar tools.
• Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, VPN.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, documentation habits, and the ability to perform on-site hardware tasks.
• Experience supporting physical office buildouts, structured cabling projects, or large-scale deployments.
• Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation or tooling.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) or virtualized network environments.
• ITIL exposure or experience in structured operational environments.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent will be a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Have solid written and verbal English skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive work attitude.
