Paralegal - Commercial Contracts – Bengaluru India
eBay is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and business-focused individual to support an international role located in Bengaluru India. This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least three days a week, offering an opportunity to immerse yourself in our business, lead contract negotiations, and provide crucial commercial insights that directly influence our strategic direction. In this challenging role, you will be an integral member of the commercial legal team providing support to internal business clients in connection with contracting. The ideal candidate is someone who can work collaboratively in a high-volume workload amongst a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-oriented environment.
Job Description and Primary Responsibilities:
In this role, you will play a key role in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various commercial contracts across the business, such as amendments, statements of work, and lower risk agreements. You should have very strong communication skills and a proactive work-ethic. The successful candidate will need to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, must be proactive in identifying areas of need and generating and follow-through on action plans. This role is a critical and essential part of the commercial contracts team. You will be instrumental in streamlining the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the department and our internal business clients to facilitate meaningful change.
This is a full-time position. This position will require extensive interaction with eBay Global Legal Attorneys, eBay businesses and third-party service providers. This is not an attorney position.
Job activities include, but are not limited to:
- Review and negotiate contracts such as amendments, statements of work, renewals, non-disclosure agreements, services agreements, etc.;
- Mitigate legal risks with an understanding of business objectives;
- Create and maintain standardized templates, playbooks, guidelines, and checklists to support contract negotiation workflows;
- Assist business partners with the preparation of contract summaries and risk assessments;
- Assist and work with contract administrators to analyze and assign contracts based on legal risk, support function, language and other guidelines;
- Train and educate our business partners to understand the contracts submission process;
- Work closely with legal colleagues on the development and implementation of new commercial contracting policies and procedures; and
- Assist with in-depth legal research, special projects and other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or Diploma in Paralegal Practice; Paralegal Certification is beneficial, but not essential.
- Must have 5+ years experience as a paralegal, contracts specialist, or legal associate with a multinational company or law firm in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts and legal documents.
- Must have proficiency in MS Office Suit (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google applications and other legal software ensuring legal operation running efficiently.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Experience in case management and developing, implementing, and using legal technology solutions (e.g. contract management systems, DocuSign, and similar).
- Familiarity with and comfort using AI systems in their work is required.
- Must be comfortable making decisions and have the ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines.
- The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to multi-task efficiently.
- Flexible working hours to accommodate time zones to work with global teams.
- Comfortable working with senior executives within Legal and the Business.
- Flexible with the scope and wide variety of projects to be undertaken in this role.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and a fast-paced deadline focused culture, and have a practical, solutions-oriented focus.
- Must demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to drive issues and tasks to completion
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and presentation skills.
- Experience in cross-divisional / cross-functional interactions and working within a global environment is an advantage.
