As a Platform Engineer within the Naval Department at Thales, you will be crucial in supporting the migration and maintenance of a new secured engineering environment. This role involves developing GitLab CI pipelines, creating build container images, administering new development tools, and ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems. You will enable distributed teams to work more efficiently and collaboratively, with hybrid working expected.
Must Have
- Migrate, optimize, harden security tooling from legacy systems to modern solutions.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
- Manage and deploy containerized applications with Docker and Podman.
- Support version and artefacts control and collaboration using GitLab and Artifactory.
- Collaborate with teams across Netherlands and Germany, as well as with software architects in the Netherlands.
- Proficiency in Linux systems and shell scripting.
- Experience with GitLab for CI/CD pipeline management and source control.
- Familiarity with Artifactory, Maven and CMake build automation & dependency management.
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Podman).
- Experience with versioning systems, especially Git.
Good to Have
- Previous experience with project migrations (e.g., Jenkins-Gitlab CI, Nexus-Artifactory, etc.).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps tools (SonarQube, Coverity, BlackDuck etc).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or Ansible.
- Willingness to learn/work with new scripting languages (Shell scripting, PowerShell, Python).
- Experience in hybrid work environments and working with international teams.

As a Platform Engineer within the Naval Department, you will be instrumental in supporting our migration and maintenance of the new engineering secured environment, enabling our distributed teams to work more efficiently and collaboratively. Your role will involve as well developing GitLab CI pipelines, creating build container images and administer new development tools, as well as ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems. Hybrid working is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Migrate, optimize, harden security tooling from legacy systems to modern solutions.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
- Manage and deploy containerized applications with Docker and Podman.
- Support version and artefacts control and collaboration using GitLab and Artifactory
- Collaborate with teams across Netherlands and Germany, as well as with software architects in the Netherlands to ensure effective tool usage and best practices.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in Linux systems and shell scripting.
