Job Description
This Power Supply Design Engineer role involves researching and defining switching mode power supply topologies, developing algorithms for power supply optimization, and assisting in new product development. The engineer will design and develop switching power supply units using the company's products and evaluate them. They will also provide technical support to customers and create technical application materials. This role requires designing power electronic circuitry and writing technical reports and test plans.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- 2 years of experience as a Power Supply Design Engineer.
Good to have:
- Experience in designing power electronic circuitry for industrial or consumer devices.

Job Details
Responsibilities
- Researches and defines switching mode power supply topologies based on the specialties of the company's products
- Helps develop algorithms to automatically optimize power supplies using PI’s products and assist in developing the PI Expert Software Suite
- Assists in new product development and research new applications for both new and older generations of Power Integrations’ IC products
- Designs and develops switching power supply units (psu) using the company's products for design documentation/training material or customer requirements
- Evaluates switching power supplies built with the company’s products
- Provides switching power supply design support and technical advice to the company's customers worldwide
- Researches and write technical application materials for publication and presentation at technical conferences, industry seminars, trade magazines and data books
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 2 years of experience as Power Supply Design Engineer or design experience in any of the following areas: power converters/conversion/management, switching/switch mode power supply units (psu), inverters, power electronics design equipment, analog electronics design, control loop design and power magnetics design (transformer, chokes or inductors)
- Experience designing power electronic circuitry for industrial electronic equipment or consumer devices is desirable
- Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and test plans/instructions
