Job Description

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for defining and developing digital functions for high-performance AC/DC and DC/DC converters in the industrial, automotive, and consumer markets. Responsibilities include translating product specifications into design requirements, designing digital circuits for switching converters, and leading digital IC design from concept to market release. The role involves evaluating concepts, defining requirements, design planning, circuit design, verification, documentation, and validation. Collaboration with local and remote teams, mentoring junior designers, and supporting bench validation and customer support are also key aspects of the role.
Must have:
  • Design high-performance digital circuits.
  • Expertise in digital IC design such as regulators and comparators.
  • Experience in Low Power and high frequency digital circuits.
  • RTL design flow from Specification/Micro-architecture to design and verification.
  • Proficient in digital design and Verilog/System Verilog RTL coding.
  • Hands-on experience on Chip Assembly, IP Integration, RTL signoff tools.
  • Familiarity with serial communication interfaces (I2C and SPI).
  • Strong domain knowledge of Clocking, Reset, System modes, Power management
Good to have:
  • Proficient with Cadence Suite.
  • Scripting languages (Shell, TCL, PERL, Python).
  • Analog Behavioural Models (Verilog-A, Verilog-AMS, Wreal, SystemVerilog, EEnet).
  • Mixed-Signal Verification methodology and tools (AMS / APS / Flex).
  • IC Top-Level Digital UVM Verification (Universal Verification Methodology).
  • Experience with Multiple Power and Clock domains.
  • Strong background in IC design of switching power converter.
  • Experience with resonant switching converter is a plus

Job Details

Role Summary:

The Digital Design Engineer / Architect will be an integral member of highly experienced team in R&D. The individual is responsible for defining and realizing Digital functions on IPs, Subsystem or IC level based on required specifications of high performance AC/DC and DC/DC converter for high voltage application for both industrial and automotive as well as consumer market segment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Translates product specification and system requirements into Design requirements/Specifications
  • Drive and develop activities associated with development of Digital design of switching converters like buck, boost, … as well as resonant one like LLC. 
  • IC leader designer responsible for Digital IC design from concept to release to market
  • Responsible for evaluating concepts, defining requirements, design planning, designing circuits, verification, documentation, validation.
  • Support the Bench validation, debug activities and customer support on the products.
  • Create technical documents needed for the life cycle of the IP/Products like verification plans, validation plans etc.
  • Ability to work across different products. These include the development of low power/high frequency digital IP using sub-micron CMOS technologies.

Key Challenges:

  • Demonstrated Strong digital design skills.  Capable of designing high performance digital circuits to meet specified requirements.
  • Expertise in design of Digital integrated circuits required such as regulators, low offset amplifier and comparators, offset cancellation technique, etc. in sub-micron CMOS technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in Low Power circuits as well as high frequency digital circuits

Cross Functional Aspects:

  • Interface regularly with local and remote designers, product and test engineers, program manager, and the product definer to understand the product, design/debug the IC and the final product as one team.
  • Support/Mentorship/Coaching of junior digital designer

Job Qualification:

  • MS or higher in  Electrical Engineering  or equivalent discipline required
  • 10+ years of relevant  experience in  Digital Circuit Design.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Experience in all aspects of RTL design flow from Specification/Micro-architecture  definition to design and verification, Timing Analysis, DFT and Implementation
  • Proficient in digital design and hands-on experience with Verilog/System Verilog RTL coding
  • Firm understanding and hands-on experience on Chip Assembly, IP Integration, RTL signoff tools and CDC/RDC/Lint/Synthesis.
  • Familiarity with serial communication interfaces (at least I2C and SPI)
  • Strong domain knowledge of Clocking, Reset, System modes, Power management
  • Self-Driven with a can-do attitude

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficient with Cadence Suite
  • Scripting languages (Shell, TCL, PERL, Python)
  • Analog Behavioural Models (Verilog-A, Verilog-AMS, Wreal, SystemVerilog, EEnet)
  • Mixed-Signal Verification methodology and tools (AMS / APS / Flex)
