As a Principal Platform Engineer (Azure), you will be joining the Cloud Productivity & Engineering (CPE) team to build, develop, and support the Azure cloud platform. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing complex cloud services, leading engineers, defining and implementing strategic roadmaps, and ensuring an efficient and secure Azure platform. You will also be involved in key decision areas such as code construct, networking, security, and governance. You will also be mentoring and advising others on design and implementation, development, best practice and processes.
Must have:
  • 7+ years experience in cloud and hybrid Azure Platform solutions
  • Experience in designing scalable Azure Enterprise Scale Landing Zones
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud native components
  • 5+ years’ experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and CI/CD
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers
Good to have:
  • 8 years’ hands on experience with Windows/Linux Servers
  • Ability to define a problem, generate solutions/innovation opportunities
  • Sound understanding of financial markets
  • Adept at the creation of high-quality technical documentation
  • Previous roles involving Azure administration, Azure development

Role Profile

  • In this role, you'll be joining our Azure Engineering team within Cloud Productivity & Engineering (CPE) as a Principal Platform Engineer (Azure). This team focuses on building, developing, and supporting our Azure cloud platform (as a product) to accelerate the time-to-market of innovative finance products. In collaboration with Microsoft, we aim to transform how LSEG uses the cloud platform.
  • Work with strategic LSEG application teams throughout their adoption, providing a white glove engineering capability for our business customers
  • Lead in designing, developing, and building complex cloud services and capabilities.
  • Help define and implement the strategic roadmap, based on customer insights and emerging technologies and ways of working.
  • Lead architects, developers, and other engineers to ensure we at LSEG have an efficient, secure evergreen Azure platform.
  • Actively involved and own key decision areas across the product portfolio, such areas as code construct, integration to downstream dependencies, networking, identity, security, operational resiliency including business continuity, disaster recovery and governance.

Tech Profile/Essential Skills

  • 7+ years proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing cloud and hybrid Azure Platform solutions.
  • Can demonstrate domain expertise in designing a scaleable Azure Enterprise Scale Landing Zones.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud native components.
  • 5+ years’ demonstrable experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and CI/CD principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Gitlab.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, team members, and management teams, with the ability to synthesise technical detail to the business value.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable speaking publicly to technical and non technical audiences.
  • Technical proficiency in solving cloud infrastructure issues.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 8 years’ hands on experience with Windows/Linux Servers.
  • Ability to define a problem, generate solutions/innovation opportunities, evaluate and identify the best solutions.
  • Sound understanding of financial markets.
  • Adept at the creation of high-quality technical documentation, including design/architecture, program source code and support documentation.
  • Previous roles involving Azure administration, Azure development, and/or DevOps processes.

Education and Professional Skills

  • Relevant Professional qualifications.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related STEM degree.
  • Azure Solution Architect Expert
  • Azure Administrator Associate
  • Terraform Associate
  • Any other relevant DevOps certification

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Leads and is the Domain Expert for the Azure platform as a product, ability to demonstrate their extensive knowledge of the product and be a thought leader of the product and technology stack. Provide mentoring and advising others on design and implementation, development, best practice and processes.
  • Leads product development and promotes an inclusive and open culture
  • Continually demonstrates a breadth of knowledge of various domains within the technology stack aligned to the products under Azure Engineering, understand the linkages and dependencies of projects/work and the key senior stakeholders. Build and implement technical solution designs
  • Contributes to technical roadmaps for the implementation of a technical solution strategy
  • Advise customers internally as a software development subject matter expert, utilising deep expertise of software development/platform development.
  • Evaluate how new technology or techniques may better implement the strategy, proposes patterns for its use and leads the development of reference code to set a standard
  • Lead the delivery of meaningful strategic projects, working autonomously and with little direction; may ensure the delivery of work from other team members, delegating work when required.
  • – Builds trusting relationships with internal and external customers, growing own network and collaborating with other teams. Communicates complex / technical information clearly and concisely in an audience appropriate format.
