Nekki is seeking a Principal UX/UI Designer / Artist for their PC/console project, SPINE. This role involves leading the UI/UX team, conceptualizing and designing interactive systems for various platforms, and creating graphic elements like menus, buttons, and icons. The designer will also develop and maintain the project's unique visual style. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in game interface design, strong artistic skills, and a passion for game development.
Good To Have:

Nekki is a game development studio, the creator of Shadow Fight Arena, Shadow Fight 3, Shadow Fight 2, 11×11, and Vector. The total number of registered users for our games exceeds 1 billion worldwide. We develop and release games for PC, consoles, and mobile platforms.

Currently, we are looking for a Principal UX/UI Designer / Artist for one of the studio’s leading PC/console projects – SPINE. Our ideal candidate is the one who loves creating hand-drawn stylized interfaces and has enough expertise to take ownership of the entire interface development process.

SPINE is made with Unreal Engine 5 and centered around cinematic gun-fu shootouts. It’s a third-person beat’em’up with a full set of PC gaming features, including a deep storyline, a unique setting, cutscenes, intriguing enemies, memorable bosses, character progression, and, most importantly, breathtaking battles with a wide array of firearms.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning, prioritization and allocation of tasks for the UI/UX team of the project with subsequent control of quality and deadlines for their completion.
  • Concept and design UI and interactive systems for the game set to release on different platforms.
  • Collaborate with game design, art, and development teams to create design systems that satisfy the project's needs as efficiently as possible (gameplay, atmosphere, narrative).
  • Create most of the game's graphic elements: windows, menus, buttons, icons, logos, etc.
  • Create concepts for their animations and VFXs.
  • Develop and follow a unique visual style of the project.
  • Prepare accompanying documentation, prepare visual assets for implementation within the game engine, and oversee that process.
  • Innovate and update "best practices".

What we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years of experience creating interface design and/or visual design of games.
  • Excellent understanding of the specifics and principles of UI/UX.
  • Traditional and digital art skills, good artistic taste, understanding of design principles, fundamentals of composition and color theory, fluent stylization skills.
  • Ability to work in both preset style and fully creative approach.
  • Attention to detail, and “reasonable” perfectionism.
  • Cross-genre and cross-platform passion for games and their development.
  • A portfolio that highlight your creative abilities and technical skills.

Would be a plus:

  • Experience developing interfaces for specifically PC and console games.
  • Experience working in UE.
  • Animation and VFX (AE / Unreal) creation skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D software for modeling, sculpting, rendering.
  • Art-related education.
  • Street art / graffiti background.
